I have a Canon Elura 80 video camera.  I just purchassed Easy Media Creator 8 and have tried to import home movies to my hard drive.  A couple issues:

1.  The video is choppy when on my computer.  I tried to burn to DVD, and it's choppy there as well...

2.  I had approx 39 minutes of video to transfer to hard drive, but, only approx. 20 minutes transferred.

Now, I realize I'm a complete novice, but shouldn't the video not be choppy?

PLEASE HELP THE ROOKIE>>>>

We'll need some computer specs.  Video capture and video editing is very demanding on the hardware. Also apps  that running the background can take CPU cycles causing the video to play choppy.  It all depends on your computer.
Phenom X4 965 3.4Ghz, 4gig DDR3, LG 47" 3D TV, Hitachi 1TB HD, Seagate 500GB, LiteOn iHBS112 Bluray, TSSTCorp SH-222A DVD, ATI HD3300 IGP, VIA HiDef audio with Logitech Z5500 THX certified 5.1 speakers, Epson 4490 scanner, Canon 9000Pro MarkII printer, Sharp AL1551CS laser printer/copier, Sony TRV740 8mm digital, Canon HV20 HDV camcorder and Fuji S7000 for still photos, Win7 Home Premium
---------
System 2: HP DV7 laptop, Turion II Dual Core 2.4Ghz, 4GB RAM, 640GB hard drive, ATI Mobility HD4650, ATI HiDef Audio, Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit.

With only 256MB of RAM, WIndows XP will have to do A LOT of filepage swapping to the hard drive. 512MB is better, but 1GB for RAM is the 'sweet' spot for WinXP.

Make sure you have all the latest drivers: video, sound and for the VIA motherboard chipset.  Get those here

Do all Windows updates and get the latest DirectX (jun2006).  Your CPU is on the low end, but still doable with at least a memory upgrade.

This Belarc Advisor only shows one HD. If that's true it's taking a beating and fragmenting it's self to death plus the operating system on it! If your going to do much video work, I would pickup another Hard Drive and default the video work to it!

If I update the drivers...Will that solve the choppiness?  Is adding memory required?  I only want to transfer family tapes to DVD.  I'm not looking for serious video editing.  Just to capture family moments.  My budget is limited.  The DVD I created is unacceptable with the stuttering/choppiness.

I appreciate the info...
