Hi.  I certainly hope someone can help me.  I have recently installed EMC 8 on my computer, and it will not let me do anything.  I had Easy CD & DVD Creator 6 (Basic) on my computer (it came with it), and it did not allow me to edit any kind of video - I guess because it was the basic version.  Anyway, I was excited to get the upgraded version, as I had heard good things about it.  Well, I have installed, uninstalled, and re-installed a couple of times and keep getting the same issues over and over again.

Some of them include...

* when trying to add text (credits or title page) to a captured video ... it gives me an error message saying >\IPEBase.cpp(1193):***ErrorNULL=pComposition.p   It will not let me do anything ... I get no text box, nothing ... It is HARDLY easy !  :)

* when I try to preview anything, even the captured video, it gives me a black screen, although I can hear the audio.  I have also gotten the error message  .\DSProductionUtils.cpp(189):***Error 80040273 =  spGM->Preview0

* when I close certain windows and go to other screens, there is often a "remant" (for lack of a better word) of the old screen left

I don't know what to do.  I initially bought and installed the Deluxe Suite, thinking it would give me everything I need.  When I had all these problems, I went and got the Basic Version, thinking it might be simpler.  I still get the same messages.  So I know it must have something to do with my computer.  But I have read through the minimum and optional requirements, and I think that I am ok ... but I don't know.  I can't get in touch with any kind of personal customer support at Roxio ... and I am going crazy!!!  I have a project I NEED to get done ... and I have spent so much time on this, and I don't know where to turn ... PLEASE, can someone help me?

Thanks in advance!
Debbie

Ok , please forgive my ignorance, but how do you do that?  Do you think that my computer is ok for this software?  Is my video card ok?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Updating your video card:

Start--Control Panel--System--hardware-- Device manager--Then click on the line that says Display Adapters and then right click on the video card that it shows to get the name and model of it. It should say Mobility Radeon 9200 if your computer information you supplied is correct. Then go to the manufacturer's website (ATI) and usually in a download section for your particular Video card, you can see if there are any update drivers for your particular card.

Checking to See what version DirectX you are running:

Start--Run-- enter "DXDIAG" and then click on O.K. When the screen comes up, the last line of the System Information box will show the version you are running. That should be 9.0c. If it not, you can get a free download from Microsoft's web site.

Ok ... I've done all that ... have the most recent drivers for the Mobility Radeon, and have version 9.0 ... restarted my computer, opened up EMC8 and still get the same issues!!!! :)  What do I do now?  (Please forgive me for sounding frustrated, but I am ... I really wanted to use this program!  And like I said, I have a project that has to get done ASAP)
Thanks,
Debbie

ok , so the way I read all that ... my video card does not support the program?  Is that the only thing on my computer that is not compatible with EMC8?  Please forgive my ignorance - I have never had these kind of problems before, and thought my computer was up to date enough ... If the video card is the only thing I need to replace, what do you suggest?

Thanks!

Debbie,
This is a notebook laptop pc? I build my own PC's but know nothing about notebook laptop pc's. What I do know from friends owning them, is there expensive to fix and older ones you can't upgrade.

http://www.computerh...es/ch000618.htm
Can I upgrade my video card in my laptop?

Some new high performance laptop and portable computer manufacturers are coming out with models that enable users to upgrade the video card or video accelerator it came shipped with. Unless your laptop or portable computer is one of these types of laptops or portable computers you will not be able to upgrade your video card.

If you are unsure if your laptop or portable computer is this type of computer it is recommended you contact the laptop manufacturer for additional information.

Sorry,
