I have been working on a slideshow using MyDVD. I have used this many times before to successfully produce my slideshows. This time I have been constantly interupted by a Windows Message advising me that "RoxioMedia10DB has stopped working and will be shut dowm". I know my option is to go to services and restart the service, but this happens so frequently that I am wondering if there is something else wrong.

I am using a Dell Inspiron Desktop, with 350 GB hard drive and 4GB ram. My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit

Have you made any changes in your computer that might have deleted the Service Packs for that  program?

Outside of standard Windows updates, last year I needed a new mother board, but everything seemed to work okay.Don't know anything about Service Packs

Look at the Help and then about page on the program.  Does it show that the SP had been installed?

Are you running any kind of a registry cleaner; even one that is part of your anti-virus?  

You may have to do a clean uninstall/install.

Thank you for your help. I did check the 2 files and they were the most recent downloads that I used in 8/2010. I guess a clean uninstall and reinstall could be an option. Your thoughts. Also, are you using a more current version. If so, did you lose any access to some of your files?

If your files are not in Roxio folders, then they are safe.  When you reinstall, you may have to point the program to where those files are located. You should create a Restore point using Windows or make a back up.

Again thank you for your thoughts. What I was getting at was I experienced a problem when I upgraded from 9 to 10 where some of my projects that I created in 9 could no longer be opened in 10. I was wondering if that is still true with the newer versions of the software? Also noticed that I do not see an EMC version anymore, let alone a suite like I have.

Projects from old versions are not compatible with the new versions.

EMC 10 was the last version that had the "EMC" designation. All versions after that are designated by "Roxio Creator xxxx" where "xxxx" stands for the year issued. This created a lot of confusion since EMC 10 was often confused with Roxio Creator 2010. The newer version are all similar in the included programs to EMC 10. Some features have been dropped and many others have been added.
