I have a CD-R that has a number of jpeg photos on it.  I can read the CD and transfer the files off of the disc just fine.  However, they do not show up in image viewers.  When I open the file in a text reader to look at the file (testing to see if the jpeg header was corrupt) I see the words "This file is compressed and intended for use with Adaptec DirectCD 3.0 or later" at the beginning of the file.

Is there a program that I can use to uncompress these files and recover the base jpg image?

I'm on Windows 7 and the disc is over 10 years old.

Thanks for any suggestions.

John

The easiest way to get the data of them disc's is try one of the  recovery programs such as cdroller ( http://www.cdroller.com/ ) or ISOBuster   ( http://www.isobuster.com/  ).

Both  have "trial" versions, which let you see if anything can be recovered before you have to pay.
