I am having a combination of the above problems, I'm hoping someone can help.

I installed it with no trouble and proceeded to use it for a week with little trouble.  The only problem I had encountered was that every time I closed it, it would report this problem:

Roxio Easy VHS to DVD has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

Yesterday, I used it all morning with no trouble, shut down the program. When I started using it again in the afternoon, it would not open at all, reporting the same problem above.  I check my windows update center and updated it, uninstalled and reinstalled after several attempts to get it going.  After that I read some forums and tried several solutions, including this one, which I followed exactly: http://kb.roxio.com/...00207CR&PARAMS=

It is still not working but Sound Editor is just fine.  I know it can work on my computer, because it already has and I have no idea why it stopped.  Any help you could give would be great.

System:
Windows Vista Home Premium
Service Pack 2
Dell Inspiron 518
Intel Core 2 Due E&200 @ 2.53 GHz
3.00GB Ram
32-bit
4.1 Windows Experience Index

If it installs - runs - and then fails, it is something on your PC that is killing it

Most likely it will be a Registry Cleaner... They are self-important programs that do nothing other than wreck existing programs...  ;)

thank you - that definitely helps.  i just don't know how to solve it.  i looked up registry cleaners re: run and fails on roxio's support here: http://kb.roxio.com/...00064GN&PARAMS=

and they post the same solution that i tried as listed above.  Here's that link again. http://kb.roxio.com/...ontent/000127CR

if i've tried the posted solution and it's not working, then are there other things i could do?

thanks again for the original reply. :)

A simliar solution would be the one in Post #5 of THIS Topic.

Just substitute your V2D Software Suite for the 2012 Suite he has ;)

Give that a try and let us know how you make out.

Hello again,

No luck. :(

I followed Post #5 and looked up how to remove registry cleaners. I could not find one in control panel - programs, nor could i pick it up by running a malware scan. I used this post (http://www.liutiliti...gistry-cleaner/) and got to step 4 where I couldn't find reg cleaners they listed or the file.

I'm afraid to get deeper into the registry manually even with a back up because the havoc I may cause but I know it's the computer. Am I reaching the end of possibilities?

Who suggested a Reg Cleaner???

EVERYONE here recommends AGAINST it!

Prep Steps - Repair

Stay out of your Registry unless you like losing everything you have :(

I'm sorry, you must have misunderstood my last post. At the end of post five with the PREP steps, you also mention a registry cleaner could have caused the problem and that one would have to get rid of it. So I did EXACTLY what post #5 said. I followed the prep steps exactly and then tried to remove any possible registry cleaners. I could not succeed in either solution. I was not trying to use a registry cleaner, I was trying to get rid of one because PREP STEPS did not work.

Possible registry cleaner applications:

1)  System Mechanic or any other similar computer tune up utilities.   Do you have one of these?
2)  A stand alone registry cleaner   Since you not sure what they are, I doubt if you have one.   Some registry cleaners.
3)  An anti-virus program with built in registry cleaner. These are hidden in the guts of the anti-virus program but they can be turned off. This MAY be included in the McAfee anti-virus program. or somethign like Norton 360 ( a bad offender).

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

thanks everyone. it's still not working. i am following all your suggestions exactly, but it still won't run. i am going to just leave it for now and figure out some other solution outside of the software. i appreciate all your help.

Of course we have been assuming that you are running a Vista/Win7 Certified version...

Can you confirm this. Since it won't start, a good way is by looking at the disc:

Disc 1 1 124.jpg
Disc 201B.jpg

Do your have any other Roxio Software installed on your PC?
