I believe I bought it at best buy. It is probably 3-4 years old.
First let me state that I am using C2012 for this test. Maybe things have changed since C2010, hopefully someone who has C2010 installed can test it
I took your clip and added it into Videowave and then output as mpeg2, best quality.
In either projects I see no problems, no scrunching
For a 4x3VW project this is what I see:
For a 16x9 VW project i get this:

I checked the Motion SD Studio software and read the manual referred to previously. I am able to output a file using the Motion SD Studio software editing software, but I have to output each one individually. If I output it and check it with GSpot, it shows 16:9, 704x480. Btw, I don't use the Motion SD Studio software for editing, that's what I spent $100 a few years back purchasing Roxio.
I don't really want to have to re-create all of my videos one at a time to get widescreen in Roxio. The PowerDirector program worked for me without doing anything special. I know this is not the forum for this, but this forum lead me to it, does anyone have experience with PowerDirector that would be able to state the pros and cons to each program?
I can't say enough how much help you guys have been here, and expedient! I want to thank you guys millions and let you know that I was able to get a very special family video made without being scrunched just in time!

I am glad that you were able to get your project done in time using whatever worked for you. Was the clip you outloaded direct from the camcorder or was it the "output" from the Motion Studio software?
In what format are the video clips created with your camcorder? If in mpeg2 then can't you simply copy them to your hard drive from the SD card using Windows Explorer? There would be no need to use the Motions Studio software.
As I posted above I have no problem creating a Widescreen 16x9 video (using your clip) with Videowave in C2012. I believe cdanteek was able to do the same in C2011 and I think C2010 will do it also.
A longer then 3 sec video would have been better to work with though.

According to the Motion Studio PDF, there are 2 settings to output mpeg2 files:
Also, isn't Power Director 10 newer software than Roxio Creator 10 (a couple years old?)? The file loads OK in C2012 VW, except for those few missing pixels on either side, but the aspect ratio would be off due to the odd 704px width.
Power Director 10 is brand new.

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

I am sorry to be out of contact about this, I have been a bit occupied.
The way I have been doing it up until now is by inserting my memory card into the card reader. This prompts Motion SD Studio software to start. The software then has an "import function" that saves the videos to a destination of my choice. It saves two files, a xxx.mpg and a xxx.mtv file for each video. Not idea what the xxx.mtv file is.
After the videos have been stored, I have been loading them straight into Roxio. That has been the work flow.
After this forum dig some digging, I found I can take it one step further in Motion SD Studio and, after I import a video, I can go into another mode and then "output" the file again in 16:9 format, or even perform some other basic editing. This works, but is an extra step I don't wish to go through.
So, my question is, when you loaded my file into C2012, you could build a a video with that clip (or multiple clips) without first having to output the file individually?
I apologize for the 3 second video, I was in a hurry and honestly thought is was 10-15 seconds. Some time this week, I can provide a few 10-15 second snippits that may be more helpful.
I have not tried just dragging and dropping the files to my computer from the memory card, I guess I should.

The mtv files seem to be some form of video that can be uploaded to "Chinese mp4" players ... according to Google.
In what format are the "raw" video files on your memory card? Upload a clip from the memory card as well as the Motion Studio created mpg.
I used your 3 sec clip directly in Videowave and myDVD with no problems that I could see. There was no scrunching
