I have the same problem but I am using a very old computer. I cannot run VideoWave 8 or MyDVD 8.
GeForce 2's used to be good, but MX versions are always worse. It could be that your videocard is simply not good enough (like mine).
Other than that, I would make sure to get the latest DirectX version (9.0c) and most recient drivers for your card/chip.
Click HERE to go to the NVidia driver archive page. The Driver your looking for is one titled "Windows XP/2000 32-bit". The ones at the top of the page are the most recient, however some people have been having problems with the 90 series drivers so you might want to try the 80 series ones instead, specifically: Version 84.21.
You can get DirectX 9.0c from Windows Update or from here: Link
Good luck with your card. If these don't make it work then it might be time for an upgrade...

Looks like you are correct. I have updated to the latest DirectX and downloaded the 84.21 driver following the instructions from nvidia. No luck, in fact VideoWave just crashes now.
Thanks for the advice.

p4 1.4 ghz
512 mb
20 gb hard drive
geforce 2 mx 400
Video wave runs fine, and it transcodes fine. However, it performs very sluggishly.
