Whenever Media Import senses a lose of sync/signal from my VCR it stops recording. Is there a way to get around this, as I am trying to digitize a bunch of home videos and there are breaks all over the place.

Unfortunately no.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Some experience that others don't. I can capture snow, no video.
How are you connected, length of cables, what/where USB port, tape quality, what type of video tape where/how who made it?
