That is not what you said you did!

From your post above:

I then downloaded the updated setup file.
The installation failed.

Sonic Boom told you not to download the file!

This is what I did (from the string above)
02/18/12 13:52:53 - Checking if there is a newer version of setup available to download
02/18/12 13:52:56 - The version of setup available on the update site is: 3.58.48.0, and will be downloaded
02/18/12 13:52:56 - Downloading file from 'http://docs.roxio.co...8b48a/setup.exe'

When I ran the installation, I did not download updates !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The very last log file shows that you did not run
setup.exe DisableProducts=DIRECTX_FEB10

02/18/12 13:49:40 - Module filename: D:\Setup.exe
02/18/12 13:49:40 - Setup command line: "D:\Setup.exe"

Ignore this comment. I looked at the first log file.

Looks like you have corrupt files from your last log.

MSI (s) (10:2C) [21:27:59:847]: Product: Roxio Creator 2012 -- Error 1335. The cabinet file 'Disk1' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.

I will send you a download link for you to test.
