No Audio - Am I Being Thick

I hope someone can help me as this is driving me mad.  I've bought new s-vidoe cable thinking it would solve my problem but I have go no further.

I'm using Roxio 2012 pro to capture video from my camcorder and video player.  I've done this many times on my old windows xp pc but and having nothing but trouble on my windows 7 laptop.

The video capture is working but I get no audio - correction the only audio is being picked up off my microphone (realtech high def).  What have I done - what can i do - am I missing something.  I cant change the setting as its greyed out.

any help appreciated.

Disable the microphone, Google is your friend.

S Video only carries Video you still need the red white audio components hooked up.

With Win7, you may need to check in the Mixer (click the speaker icon) to make sure your recording choice is not muted or the recording volume turned down...
