I launched Toast to burn a download of the Lion 10.7.3 installer to a DVD. Toast let me know there was an upgrade so I let install before burning the disk. Afterwards, it would get to 99% and then hang forever. Force quit Toast and the drive would continue to spin. Could not eject the disc (it just keeps spinning) from the desktop or Terminal. The only way to stop it was to shut the Mac down. I tried it twice with the same results.

I then retrieved 11.0.4 from my backup and tried again. No issues whatsoever burning the same file onto the same brand of Sony DVD-R disc. Something appears to be faulty in the 11.0.5 update.

I haven't tried burning a data disc with 11.0.5 as yet. Please use the Feedback link in Toast Help to inform Roxio of your experience.
I'm just a fellow Toast-user so please don't blame Roxio for any misguidance I may provide. And do let me know if your issue gets solved. Cheers from Eugene, Oregon!

I,too, 'updated" today when the opportunity presented itself. I simply wanted to burn my tax files (data) to a CD for storage. It got to 99% and progressed no further. Force quit and tried again, this time to a CD image file. Same conclusion, 99% and hang. Force quit again. Tried to mount CD from first attempt - no success. Tride to mount image file. Success. Used OS to burn image to CD. Success. Ejected then remounted CD. Fully good.

There is a problem with build 726.

Went updates to find the latest. Found build 709. Interesting since my previous version was 710. Restored successfully from Time Machine. Pain ITA.

Thanks. I'll also send a message to Roxio. It's amazing the things that break in Toast when they fix something else. You probably know that you can retain multiple versions of Toast at the same time. There may be something else that11.0.5 does better than11.0.4 (although I haven't seen a document describing what is changed).

Sorry for the slow reply, been very busy. Thanks to brw3sbc for verifying.

I'll send Roxio a note too, tsnatee. If they hear it from more than one person, it will be a bit more evident that the issue isn't isolated to a particular user's system.

I've had the same problem with Toast 11.0.4 and 11.0.5 under Snow Leopard, just trying to burn a DVD-RW to backup some of my old files. There seems to be something terribly wrong. I regret having spent the money!

I've only seen this with Toast 11.0.5. You can have both 11.0.4 and 11.0.5 installed. You can disable the reminder about updates in Toast preferences. You also can see if a workaround is to choose Save as Disc Image and then burn the resulting .toast file using the Image File setting in the Toast Copy window.

Hey folks... this might be a good time for some limited testing of a more major update.

Can you download and try the following Toast 11.1 build, I've posted it at: http://db.tt/8i36EJKs

When you run this build, IGNORE the auto-updater telling you there is a new version available - for the moment this beta release is newer than the auto-update build.

Although the app looks similar to previous versions, it should be quite a bit snappier and your feedback would be welcome in regards to the issue you're describing.  If all goes well, I'll create a new forum area in an effort to test this with a larger base of customers.

thanks!

When the release of 11.1 happens will there be an accompanying release of Spin Doctor X that might come close to being usable for digitising vinyl, splitting it into tracks and exporting it to Toast?

Thank You!  This build DID solve my problem!  (11.0.6 was staling at 99%.  I could not burn any type of disk.)  With this 11.1 build I am back up & running.  And yes... It does seem to burn a bit faster than past versions.

When does this version expire?

11.0.6 will not save as a disc image either.  It hangs at 100%.

Attempting to burn the disc image also stalls at 99%.  There is no workaround.  11.0.6 has broken my Toast completely.

This build is working to some degree.  It does allow me to burn.  However the disc verify fails at sector 0 on every disk.  The disks seem to work ok.  But the Verify is failing on every disk.

Since this 11.1 build will not Verify... I reverted back to 11.0.4.  (Using Time Machine.) This older version is working for me now.

The plot thickens...

I have been doing some testing.  I am actually able to get some files to burn successfully in Toast 11.0.6.  Some projects burn.  Some projects hang at 99%

I tried to isolate the issue.  It does not seem to be a function of the location of the file.  (I tried placing the file in various places like the root, desktop, deep nesting.)

I tried testing file size limits.  I created some TIFF images at various sizes.  All burned normally... While other TIFF images on my system fail to burn.

I tried testing the permission settings.  I manually set the permissions to read&write on the files that fail and they still fail to burn.

I tried moving the files to a different hard drive and burning.  Files that fail seem to fail regardless of what drive they are located on.

The problem seems random.  The only thing that seems to make Toast burn ALL files is reverting back to 11.0.4

OK... So I have isolated a particular file that demonstrates the 99% bug with 11.0.6 repeatably.  The offending file is a software application that we are authorized to distribute legally.  (The program is called Pano2VR.app.)  Each time you attempt to burn this file with Toast 11.0.6 it will freeze at 99%.  (You don't actually have to run this program to test burning it.)  I have placed the file on a server for anyone to download and verify it does not burn.

See:  http://www.panoscan.com/Pano2VR.zip

The file is zipped.  To run your own test:

1. Download the file and unzip it onto any Mac running 10.7.3 with a fresh installation of Toast Titanium 11.0.6.

2. Launch Toast 11.0.6 and select the Data tab.  Drag the Pano2VR.app into the data window.

3. Select CD ROM and click the burn button.  (Insert a blank CD ROM as required.)

Watch & see how the burn freezes at 99%.  You will have to force quit Toast to exit the program.

Now... Repeat the exact same test with Toast 11.0.4 and it will burn normally without any issues.

I hope some engineer at Roxio or Corel actually READ this post and try it.  Hopefully this will help the engineers isolate the BUG.

Ivan

I have a related but slightly different problem. I also updated today to 11.0.6, figuring "Why not?". But now each of my 2 mastering files that are each just over 78 minutes long have a divider in them indicating they will span to "Disk 2". Red Book standard allows 79 minutes and the Toast documentation says it permits 80 minutes per audio cd.

The documentation says the "Disk 2" dividor can be removed by clicking an "x" at its right, but there is no "x" to click in this version.

I think this must be a bug. There has to be a way to record the full duration of my cds. I am under tight time pressure and don't want to have to start all over with different mastering software. I have all of my levels and fades and ISRT and cd text info in these Toast mastering files. But it won't allow them to be recorded as single disks.

If you have any suggestions as to how I can fix this problem or what might be causing it, anything I can do other than wait for Roxio to put out their next update, I'd be very pleased. (Thanks in advance!) Or else please just report it to whoever should know.

This is on a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard. Never had any problem with Toast before, and I've used it for many years.
