Since you were able to capture yesterday then we know that the program was installed properly and works. Either something has changed on your computer (any updates?) or something wrong with the tape.
Can you still capture from the tape you used yesterday?
Do you see any picture in the preview window? Can you capture if you advance a few seconds into the tape?

I am able to see the video in the capture screen. I cannot record the video I used yesturday. I have even tried several videos.
I downloaded the video capture driver because my computer wasnt recognizing the usb cable after I restarted my computer while troubleshooting. I was able to get the program to start recording again but it stopped automatically before the vhs was done. I tried to start the recording again and it went back to automatically shutting off the recording at 0:00

Let's establish exactly what version you have. Please read this and come back with the information.
Capture may well stop before the tape is done if there are any gaps on the tape. The program assumes that it has reached the end of the tape and stops. This is normal behavior for many users.
What video capture driver did you download and from where?
