I uploaded video from my full hd camcorder in *.mts, avchd files. Not sure whether it was the pc file system or camcorder that broke the large video into multiple mts files, but the video was broken right at the two GB limit. I need to combine those movies back into one to create the movie and burn a DVD. However, if I just include the clips on the timeline, the movie appears to have a slight "tick" or "pop" in the sound at that join point and an annoying instant of video that is discontinuous. I am new to this and the software and not sure how to remove this very annoying problem. Please offer suggestions.

You uploaded it to where?
Or do you mean you captured it on the computer using Roxio software?
If so fill in the details so we have a idea what your doing and talking about.

Did not capture using Roxio software. I used the Pixela Transfer Utility software that came with my Canon XA10 to Upload to my PC. OS - Win 7. This sounds like a FAT or FAT32, limitation, but can't remember the size limit from various OS's.

The default for windows 7 is NTSF.
Open My Computer, right click the C Drive and click Properties it will list the file system.
Why come here for help when you used "Pixela Transfer Utility software" to transfer it to the PC?
Is it a Roxio problem? Do you have a Roxio product installed?

But virtually ALL camcorders are using FAT32 for their internal memory or SD Cards.. 
Every time you press Record and Stop you create a file on the camcorder.
IF these were one contiguous recording, then the camcorder breaks them as required by its' format...
You might do better by simply copying the files onto your HDD than letting some software do it for you.
As I recall, one of our Gurus had this problem, and there is no solution ~ at least that is what Canon said at the time...
Give us some more details, but I think you might be able to eliminate it through alternating the videos on the main track and the overlay track
If you create a slight overlap or trim off a frame or two, it might be the "fix" you need.
I started to work with this last time but got distracted
Might be time to revisit this issue

Regardless of where this problem may lie, I am using Roxio 2012 pro to edit, produce and burn dvd's and it seems to be these files are not merging seamlessly due to whatever problem. The question is, how is it possible to remove this anomaly in roxio during the edit phase? I also have powerdirector 10 installed and it has had some better success in a couple of instances, but not in others so it is at least in part related to editing software.

The trim function is the way to do it. Do you know to use that function in Edit-Video Advanced? See this.
Actually, if there is a break in the action right there, a short transition will hide it.

Especially because it seems to be a camera/camcorder issue and unrelated to Roxio or the video editing software.
BTW, PowerDirector 10 is not as good as Edit Video-Advanced in Creator.
