Disc Format Types

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I currently use the Roxio CD Creator 5 to format a CD for transferring data onto it.

The system i am working on needs to have the CD formatted with this software and will not work with others.

I need to find out what exact format it is formatting the CD into so that i can upgrade to a later version of software as the CD Creator 5 is quite old.

Thanks in advance.

Your using Direct CD (Packet writing) wiki link, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Packet_writing

The last Roxio version that had a form of it, Drag to Disc (D2D) was Easy Media Creator 9.

Vista and Windows 7 comes with,

Windows burns discs in the Live File System format, but you can also choose to burn discs in the Mastered format

Live File System is Windows packet writing software, wiki link, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_File_System

Most folks weren't very happy with Direct CD, D2D, because of the risk of data loss!

You call?

Thanks for the info, much appreciated.

I have an old control system which needs the disk formatted this way so looks like i will have to find a copy of roxio creator 9 or some other software that will use this format.

Do you know of any readily available software that uses this format these days?

Ok so am i right in saying the format type of roxio creator 5 is UDF format?

And therefore Windows 7 live file system which uses UDF should work fine?
