Had mine for a while now but I started using it again and it's unusable, used to work fine so I know i'm not doing anything wrong, and my computer can handle it perfectly fine.

I've tried switching all the cables once or twice, and the tv settings several times and i've come to a conclusion that a faulty model is pretty much the only possible thing, although It may be a software issue because there's the VERY RAREchance it works perfectly fine, but usually it doesn't.

So if my model is fault is there a way to get it replaced?

Alright i'll try all that thanks for the reply, it's appreciated. This computer is actually pretty new i've done almost nothing to it, it's a fairly recent upgrade to my last laptop which had slightly poorer specs. I pretty much only have the default programs besides some stuff like Fraps, Google Chrome, Sony Vegas, Power Director, and some games via Steam.

I have updated my video drivers a few times though but I don't know what that would effect.

UPDATE:Revo Uninstaller did the trick, must have been some registry errors I guess, because I have tried reinstalling it before but obviously that didn't do the trick. Thanks for the help saved me a lot of time, money, and anger.

PROBLEM SOLVED.

Why did you stop using it originally?  How long ago (asked to see if a restore is possible)  What changes have you made to your computer?   That almost an esoteric question because of all the updates you probably made.
Did you install any new programs?  Have you updated your computer?  Have you tried to reinstall the program.

My suggestion is to remove the drivers by using Windows, uninstall the program using REVO Uninstaller in the MODERATE Mode (only) and then reinstall  the program and then the hardware device.

Note there is simply a chip or two in that hardware device so it would have had to be subject to some pretty rough conditions - extreme heat, drops so that some wiring came lose, etc.

Remember to double check the connections.

Contact Roxio direct (we are a users group) and talk to them.   Good luck.
