I've downloaded the Update to Toast 9, but when I try unarchiving it, I get the message:

Unable to unarchive "toast_ti_907a_260_udater.zip into "Desktop". (Error 1 - Operation not permitted)

Can anyone help me!

I have a CD with Toast 9 on it and it installs just fine onto my Mac.

Sorry, I don't know why it would want to unarchive the zip file into the Desktop. Double-clicking on it should unarchive it in the folder in which it was downloaded. Also, I thought the updates downloaded as .dmg files but I may be mistaken.

No, the Updates download as .zip and unarchive as .dmg.

Double clicking the .zip file makes it try to unarchive but when then status bar gets to the end instead of ending up with a .dmg file I get the message; unable to unarchive. . . . .

And I've tried to download the file a couple of times and the same result; unable to unarchive , , , , ,

I just downloaded the Toast 9.0.7a update and it unzipped and the .dmg mounted without a problem on my MBP running OS 10.7.4. So I have no guesses why this isn't happening on your Mac. Have you tried using Disk Utility to mount it? It also should mount using the Mount Disc Image command in the Toast Utilities menu and by dragging it into the Toast Copy window with Image File selected as the format.

I am running 10.4.11 on a G4 PPC.

Disk Utility will not recognize a .zip file as a disc.

Neither will Toast 9 recognize a .zip file as a disc or as a an Image file.

I will try again to download the .zip file and see if that helps.

A zip file is not a disc image. It is a compressed archive that is uncompressed using the Archive Utility built into the Mac OS. Maybe your OS version is before that was included. Download the free version of Stuffit and it can uncompress zip (and other) archives.

That is part of 10.4 all versions of this OS.

And I already have the FREE version of Stuffit 10.0.2 that runs on 10.4.

All I can do is try downloading again and see if that will solve my problem.

And YES I knew that a .zip file is not an Image File, I only stated that because you stated in one of your messages that Toast should mount the .zip file using Mount Disc Image. . . . . .using Image File as format.

Sorry for my misstatement. After the file is unzipped Toast can mount the .dmg image file but so can can the Mac OS.

I understand all of that, my problem is getting it to unzip in the first place!

I tried once again to download and unzip it using Stuffit 10.0.2 and I get the message that it's problem is that the file appears to be corrupted. This is really no different than "Operation not permitted"; either way I can't unzip this file!

Any chance you can attach and send me an unzipped file of this Archive?

I don't know why it isn't unzipping. I did the download on my Mac and it unzipped okay. Do you have any download helper such as Speed Download. If so, try disabling that or try downloading and unzipping using a new user account. I'm sorry I've been of no help.

No, I don't have any download helper.  I don't know why using a new user account would help. I've had this account since I've had Toast 4.

And I assume that either you won't or don't know how to attach this file as an unzipped file. Because you didn't respond to that part of my previous message.
