okay so i have 2 questions.
1. can roxio record on pc?
2. my TV is not an hd TV so my roxio will not record on it. if i buy an HDMI cable will that help? if so how?

I guess we a a bit stupid confused also.  Roxio has about 30 products that they sell now.  There have been variations of most of them for more than 15 years.   Many of them record something to a computer and some of them may use a TV for capturing or display.

How about giving us a hint on what you have so that we know what you are referring to.   If you are serious about getting help that will be valuable to your, answer these questions (link).

Every time I try to burn a dvd from downloaded vhs I get the "Failed to start the image writing operation" error while burning image followed by 80004003 error while aborting

The same responses (post 2 & 3) apply to you. Supply some information and your post will be moved to the appropriate forum.

All you have posted is "my car won't start" and you haven't even told us what car you have :)
