Hello there,
I have the original version of Roxio Easy VHS to DVD. Have had it for some time now and I have to say it's allways worked well in the past for me. I also use the video editing software bundled in the project to directly import the digital video files on my camcorder for personal editing as the file format (MPEG2) was compatible withe roxio videowave.
However recently when importing these files I have noticed that it only plays the video & not audio when it used to work fine with both. & that when I re-import Mpeg2 format videos that were originally rendered in Easy VHS to DvD from when it used to work the same problem also exists. I have tried both video from my camcorder & my old mpeg2 renders in windows media player & they work perfectly in audio & video so I dont think it's a file corruption problem. Have I lost or changed a codec or something without realising it? I recently re-installed the software to see if that would fix the issue but sadly no joy. Has anybody else come up against this or a similiar problem & if so how did you resolve it? Incidently my easy vhs to dvd will still play both the audio & video on other imported file types IE: avi,WMV etc... The problems seems specific to mpeg2 file formats.
Any help that anybody can offer would be greatly appreciated.
Many kind regards,
Dave.

Somethings changed on your PC. Can you remember installing any video/audio updates?
Your Version 1.1.124? Only works on XP & Vista.
There were 2 Service Packs that were issued, have you reapplied them after reinstalling?
You could post a small file sample at a free file hosting site like http://www.upfordown.com/ .
I would capture in DV AVI largest file size better quality IMO.

No.... I have tried to re-install the service packs but for some reason it fails to find & install them. I guess maybe that Roxio dont support this product anymore & has removed the service packs for download perhaps? If so I wonder if anybody knows where I could obtain the service pack updates from?

You may not know that Corel bought Roxio a couple of months ago. Corel is trying to migrate the data base articles and may accidentally cull some of the older files. I searched but could not find the updates or service packs. Sorry.
To complicate matters, the only way to update is through the "Help" function in VHS to DVD. Read this for the reason. The update was probably not a separate download so I'm not sure that anyone would have it. If they did, and offer it to you, make sure that it is for the right version.
Suggestion. Use the free REVO Uninsaller in the MODERATE MODE (only) to remove the program and then update your computer and reinstall the program. The service pack would be to fix a particular problem; not for the whole program so it should still open.
Another thought. What capture device are you using? Perhaps the drivers for that may have been corrupted. With the device in, look at Windows Device Manager. Remove the device to see which of the listeed USb devices belong to that device. Plug it back in and right click to remove the drivers. With the program working, plug the device back in. Do not let Windows select the drivers; they are always the wrong ones.
Why don't you use Creator (which ever you have) to do the capture? You stated that you had Video Wve so that means you have some version of Creator.
