Everytime I have tried to install EMC 7.5 or EMC 8, when the system reboots both my DVD drives are gone. WIN XP will not let me access them. EMC 7.5 worked really great in WIN2k, however I am unable to get the program to run under XP. Any suggestions.

Thanks

Have you tried this possible fix yet?

I tried the first patch but not the second suggestion.

Question on the patch though, do you install and reboot and then do the patch or install then do the patch then reboot.

Thanks

I don't think it makes much of a difference except for rebooting after you run the patch.

:) can anyone help me??? i have tried for about a month to install emc8. it goes almost to the end and then freezes. after many uninstalls and reinstalls, reformatting my hard drive, disabling firewalls and norton using the patch pxengine1_08_34a, the same thing. freezes right at the end so the EMC80_805_Update does not recognize what is there on my computer cannot install the content cd. i just don't know what to do. i am needing this for many things mostly it seems to be the best for transferring a cassette tape to cd (my husband has old sermons he wants to put on cd). please can anyone help? i have windows xp operating system.

You already hijacked another thread around the 17th of August. You need to follow that thread and quit posting all over the forums.

OK I installed and added the patch, then added the RLA uninstall and then rebooted. Should try installing, rebooting, intalling the patch and not RLA uninstall and then reboot or does anyone have any other suggestion.

Thanks

I have now given up. I have tried every fix there is. I have tried to unstall NERO to see if it will help to no avail. I installed SP2 to see if that was the problem but nothing works.

I have now got advice from Microsoft to play with the registry. I have never had so many problems with software. Hardware, yes but never software.

If anyone was to give more advice this is what I am running

Windows XP with SP2
P4 1.7, M925
40G HD and 200G HD
DVD Drive and DVD burner

Thanks for all the advise so far, nothing has worked it still shows no recorder after the reboot.
