I have recently upgrated from Rox7 to Rox8 and found that it now takes me 4 to 5 times as long to rip from a CD to an MP3 file. Side by side comparisons of Rox7 and Rox 8, I can rip over 4 CDs with Rox 7 in the same time it takes me to rip one in Rox 8. What's up with that?

In Rox7 I use "Create New MP3 Disc" from the main home window to rip and place on my hard drive. This calls up the "Creator Classic" window. In Rox8 I use "Convert CDs" under "Audio" in the project pane and this displays the convert window to sellect the source and tracks. Both set to rip at 128kbps. Rox8 much much slower than Rox7. Any ideas?

You can still use Creator Classic to rip as well as Music Disc Creator. If you go to the Applications screen in the Home menu you'll see the Roxio apps or get to them directly via the Start/Programs menu. I'm not sure how much time you'd save but I use Music Disc Creator and it doesn't seem to take very long at all.
Let me know how it works for you.

I tried this. No difference in ripping speed using either the Creator Classic of Music Disc Creator in Rox8. Both take ~9 minutes to rip the same CD to MP3. However ripping the same CD using Rox7 takes a little over 2 minutes. I don't understand what Roxio did to the product but it looks like the broke the MP3 conversion.
Does anyone from Roxio monitor this discussion group or how do I bring this problem to their attention?

If you do this like said above and extract from the cd. With the MP3 Disc project showing in the bottom project window in Creator Classic
in 7.5. My system takes 15 seconds to extract, but the files are 0 bytes there only links for the project.
If I choose Create New MP3 Disc from the main home window. Then file new project, then in the top tree window choose the drive with the audio cd to rip to MP3, then extract to MP3. My system takes less than a minute for 16 tracks 600mb cd. 128 coding technologies MP3 encoder.
I also checked the same disc ripped with Exact Audio Copy and Lame Encoder with error checking. This is how I do MP3's and the same disc took 17 minutes. 192 vbr with error checking.
I would compare the two rips by listening to them. Faster is not always better. The Roxio 7.5 128 coding technologies compared to EAC Lame 192 vbr, there is a huge difference in the sound quality when listened to.

I am not sure what you are saying here. I have Rox7 and Rox8 as comparisons not Rox7.5 What I am comparing is identical ripping ie: 128K Constant Bit Rate. Both produce files of identical size and sound identical. The big difference is the time it took Roxio 8 to rip vs. Roxio 7.
