I put my disc to copy in and it recognizes it. I put in a blank disc and it keeps saying to install a new blank disc. I've tried 2 different brands. It's silly that there is NO customer support except for an idiot machine to talk to. I've got a brand new puter with 2 something speed and 3 HD's. I always used to use my Roxio 6.5 with no problems. Now I'm going to have to switch to Nero to make CD's. How silly. I'm not going into my registry to change anything---------I do not know how. Nero didn't want to read my old CD's from Roxio so I got this new unusable one. I'm going to have to go have copies made of everything. These companies should get together and make stuff they sell usable. I haven't seen any answers for how to make it recognize the blank CD. It recognizes the drive----------just no CD's.

Have you updated the firmware on your burners? Being a new computer doesn't tell us anything. List your system specs.

Iam having a very similar problem. I have updated my firmware with no change to the issue. Have you solved your problem yet? If so, how?

If you go to Tools -> Disc Information, what are the manufacturer & model for your burner? What is the firmware revision? When you have a blank disc in, what is the Disc Type for Inserted Disc under Disc Information?

Are you able to create a disc image for the disc you want to copy?

I have a very similar problem. EMC 8 recognized the disc, and Disc Info tells exactly correctly what it is and how much space it has. Yet, it keep ejecting the disc and ask for a blank one whenever I clicked the 'burn' icon. What gives?

which component in EMC 8 did you use? What kind of Disc did you use? Are you able to create a disc image for the disc you want to copy?

I used the "burn image to disc" feature to burn an existing iso image into a disc.
All I can say is that when I go back and use my nero burn software, which came free with the drive, it worked well and a disc is burned successfuly.
When I used EMC 8 which I paid $69 for, it does not work. one part of the software (the disc info tool) recognized the disc, while the other tool, the burn tool itself does not). Sometime I made stupid decision and buying EMC 8 is one of them. Lesson learn -- don't fix what is not broken, don't buy software when you have one that works!

I have a similar problem with my dual layer DVDs. I have been trying to burn an iso image of a 6.5GB file. The disk is recognized (showing that I have 1.6GB of space left on the DVD) and all is well until I click on the burn button. Then I am told that "This disc is incompatible with the source disc." Very frustrating.

Your problem sounds very much like one that needs a firmware update. Are you using the latest firmware? What program are you using to burn the image? Have you tried all 3...Disc Copier, Creator Classic and the Home Screen Burn Image?
