I cannot figure out why this is so, but when I click the preview button the audio is extremely loud and distorted. I tried putting new audio in and it was distorted as well. My sound card driver is up to date. I can use audio in other EMC8 apps and it works fine. Does anyone know what is going on with MYDVD menu audio in this case?

This happens with some audio cards in the preview mode. You should get a few RW disc and burn the project to one. In most cases, the audio will be fine. Also you might adjust your audio acceleration. Go to Windows>Start> Run and type in "dxdiag" not quotes, OK. In the Sound tab, move the slider to the left a couple of notches. Try listening again, go back up until the sound gets distorted and then back down one.
