Hdmi--->Dvi No Signal On Monitor

Question

Here is my setup for the roxio hd gamecapture pro:

Xbox to roxio via hdmi (input)

Hdmi (output) to monitor via HDMI-->DVI cable (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812189057)

The USB cable is plugged into my laptop doing the recording. Roxio software picks up an image and everything seems fine. So the signal from the xbox through the roxio to the laptop seems fine, I can record without issue.

Problem: Monitor picks up no [digital] signal. So monitor is blank, no picture.

I've looked into multiple threads and these are the only two relevant ones I found:

http://forums.support.roxio.com/topic/83745-hdmi-input-to-hdmi-output-to-hdmi-dvi-cord-for-pc-streaming/

Conclusion: Something is wrong with the roxio firmware/software

http://forums.support.roxio.com/topic/83513-hdmi-to-dvi-problems/

Conclusion: I have to buy some sort of passive splitter

So WTF, why won't it send a signal via regular HDMI to DVI? Am I missing something?

With it connected HDMI to the RGC and HDMI to DVD-D to Monitor do you get anything on the capture screen?

If so does it show protected signal?

You have a game in the XBox?

It doesn't show it. It lets me record, it doesn't say that. I have a game also in the Xbox.

With a game in the XBox and running do you see video on the capture screen?

What does status show?

Yeah. I just don't see any signal on my monitor. Everything seems fine on the preview screen and the software. Just the monitor that I play my Xbox on.

It can record still, and all the cables are plugged in. Including to my laptop.

Forget harping about no signal on the monitor, everyone knows that!

The simple answer to your question is that your monitor is not HDCP compliant.

Even though that is not preventing you from capturing it is stopping the handshake from the Roxio device to your monitor.

The only solution is to use a HDCP compliant monitor or TV.

I don't think it's that simple.

If you needed a HDCP monitor or a TV HDCP capable, wouldn't of Roxio made that a minimum system requirement?

I've eliminated the hand shake with component cable out from the source and I still get no signal on the monitor.

I'm not spending more money on this. Already wasted $30 extra or more. Still waiting for the splitter cable, I'll let you guys know how it goes.

Guys. It shows signal on my monitor with this thing now and my laptop, but on the software it's split screened and says no signal on it. I mean it shows the video and everything, just won't let me record now. I'm uninstalling right now as I'm typing this and reinstalling to see if it works.

Edit: Doesn't work still, won't record.

I'm about to get a refund and return this... this is a waste of my time and spent $150 on something that doesn't even work. Worse company, have to pay for tech support... really? If I can't find a solution by tomorrow, I'm just RETURNING THIS. Already packed it back in the box, thanks for trying to help everyone. Not going to waste even more time into this. EVERYONE that has the same problem. I recommend getting something else, I'm going to get a HD PVR 2 when I have enough money again... costs to ship it back

Edit: Ok... actually. I'm not going to return this, can you guys please help me with this problem? Excuse the rage up there, I was pretty mad trying to figure this out for a while. See the problem? It says no signal and the preview screen is split screened.

It also shows Roxio GameCAP HD PRO under device manager and the audio.

GUYS! It works! I just changed the display on my Xbox 360 to 1280 x 720 Widescreen

Also, this is what I bought. I bought a HDMI Splitter Cable Adapter. Here's the link!

http://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Female-Splitter-Adapter-Cable/dp/B005BOGI4C/ref=sr_1_sc_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1357445000&sr=1-1-spell&keywords=hdmi+cable+splitter+adapter+crazycart

HDMI to DVI cable (already had that)

HDMI cables, of course.

I bought the DVI on the top of the splitter cable, the HDMI cable on the bottom. Then I connected the splitter cable to the back of my Xbox, and plugged the other end of it to the roxio. Then the roxio usb to my laptop, and THERE you go. It works. If it doesn't work, switch the top and bottom cable opposite side. Also if the display doesn't work, keep looking. It may be different. It works now guys. I may not explain things clearly, but just know that you have to buy the cable with the link I pasted on here. Thank you everyone, I really appreciate all the help and now I'm a happy customer :D

Also excuse the language in previous posts, I was frustrated. Thanks again! You can lock this topic now since it's solved :)

That wasn't the question actually... but okay. I still got it to work, just no audio from the DVI blocking the audio.

I've recently bought a DVI-D to HMDI cable and a Gigabyte GTX 1050 2GB GDDR5. When I connect it to my monitor, the screen is black and the light just keeps on blinking. I tried to put in in Analog and Digital and still no display.

Those adapters can be hit or miss... there are 5 different "DVI" formats

This is one that worked for me:

Note: when you see a topic that is 4 years old, start a new on rather than posting in it :(

I would prefer a detailed description of your setup from your gamebox to and from the GameCAP HD. Might have nothing to do with the adapter ;)
