Can you explain exactly what and how you are doing what you are doing?  Are you using Video Wave to put your project together and then using MyDVD to burn it?  Also it's helpful to list your system specs.

I originally created the project in Windows movie maker. I'm not sure what system specs you need, but I created it on my laptop.

How are you exporting the project from Windows Moviemaker?  Are you saving it as an .avi (DV) format movie?  And then importing that (probably rather large) file into MyDVD?

I saved it as an NSTC(?) file to import it to RMC. I was even able to save the whole project in Roxio, all the sound and pictures are there. But when I try to save it to disc it just won't keep all the pictures?

I removed the other burning software from my computer (Sony VAIO), but I just don't know what else to do.

Thanks for responding!

Are you really trying to save the project to a disc? That doesn't work if you are doing what you said.  Unfortunately, you'll need to provide the function within Roxio that you are working with.  NTSC is a region code (for US as opposed to PAL for most of the rest of the world). and has nothing to do with the video format - these are typically avi or mpg2.  There are alot more formats but for this discussion, your video should be in one of these.

Since you were able to open the file in Roxio, you should use MyDVD.  Select a menu background that you like, make sure that the project settings are for a DVD.  Click on add movie to add the file.  Now click on the burn button toward the upper right.  For best results (not required) is to create an iso file by selecting image file (iso) and unchecking the other options.  If the project is actually in a compliant mpg2 format, encoding will go quickly and you will get a gray preview screen during the encoding.  If it is an avi file, it will take some time especially with your computer.  It is not unusual to be 5 times or more longer than the length of the project.  When the iso file is completed, close MyDVD and open disc copier, copy the iso file to your disc.

With almost any computer, make sure that you have disconnected from the internet, shut down all running programs including your anti-virus and anti-malware program an be patient.  As  I said this is CPU intensive and your computer will be slow.  You can only get one hour of best quality video on a DVD disc and encoding could take up to 5 hours if it is not in the mpg2 format already.
Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

A Senior moment? I have read your retired. It's misunderstood by most!

NTSC and PAL are video standards that different Country's use.

Region Code on DVD's, include codes that can be used to prevent playback of certain discs in certain geographical regions. Each player and DVD is given a code for the region in which it's sold.

I knew better than that. I did mean standard; region code is sort of a DRM. The point was that just saying that the files was saved as NTSC didn't tell anything about the video file -- avi,mpg2, mpg3, etc.
Anything else that I went senior on?

It appears that the total DVD file is 179 KB in My DVD. I think this covers everything. Not sure what else to do.

First of all, thank you for your reply. Here is where I am at. . .I imported the windows movie maker project after saving it as a WMV file. I then added the menu, etc into the MyDVD. When I preview the project in MyDVD everything is there; however, when I attempt to save it as an avi file or other and then begin burning it the pictures disappear about half way through. I turned everything off as you suggested.

Perhaps a little time with the manual will help.  When you are in MyDVD, you can't save the project as an avi or other.  Just burn it directly to a disc or to an iso file and use disc copier to copy the iso file to disc.
If you are having a problem burning it to a disc, there is something wrong with your original project.

Not necessarily.  I never could get a recent project to burn satisfactorily in MyDVD8.  But when I imported it into MyDVD6, it worked beautifully.  And I have no idea why.

Many people recommend saving to ISO file, but I prefer saving to DVD folders, because you can see what you've got more easily, and you can also easily test what you've got with any DVD software player such as PowerDVD.

I note, though, that Van said he saved from Windows Moviemaker into WMV format.  That may have been a mistake.  I would recommend going back to Moviemaker and export your project in AVI format.  Then import that into MyDVD and see what happens.

originally we were using proshow but it tends to freeze or lie about burning. We recently switched over to roxio and yesterday we actually had some problems that match yours. only one picture loaded and there were 557 to load, the full audio was there (56 minutes) but only 18 minutes worth of music worked and we had the black screen of death.

here's what we suggest trying (it'll at least get you to where we are right now, only we get burning errors (says it's burning but actually isnt and wastes our time then says complete)

* instead of creating the slideshow first and trying to export or open with video wave, create your main menu then select add slideshow. create your show and it will work- well it should work, it did for us and we had the same problem.

It would be great to talk to someone live about tech issues instead of waiting on tickets or relying on forums because it's wasting so much business time.

Hope this helps.
