Since upgrading to Quicktime 7.1.2, Jam didn't seem to remember where the files are located. It keeps asking where files are when opening a playlist. It also mangled the file names, shortening them to 32 characters. Finally, when burning a CD, some songs had no sound. There is a track on the CD that plays its entire length, but without sound.
Downgrading to Quicktime below 7.1.2 is problematic. I read how some people used Pacifist to re-install order versions of QT, but this didn't work on my dual-core Powermac G5. Whenever I did that, no programs could run, although the system did boot up. Every time I ran a program, it immediately quit unexpectedly.
I had to re-install the system. I am running with QT 7.0.1 without issues with Jam. I may try with version 7.0.4, but I don't remember when I started seeing the problem, and I'm not willing to re-install the system if I don't have to. I am currently running 10.4.7.
Jam 6.0.3 and Quicktime 7.1.2 not so compatible
