I have several nicely edited 1/2 hour reels of super 8 movies I have converted to .mpg. I would like to put 3 or 4 (depending on room on the DVD) on a DVD. My plan was for the menu tree to look something like this:

Main Menu
Reel 1
Chapter menu(s)
Reel 2
Chapter menu(s)
Reel 3
Chapter menu(s)

Added three movies & they all showed up on the main menu. Selected the first movie and edited chapters (came out with 13 - unlucky?) and the item to automagically create chapter sub-menus was checked and it all looked fine. I thought I was on a roll. Selected the second movie and edited chapters... BUT there was no item at the bottom of the chapter dialog box to automagically create submenus. :-(

Is it even possible in EMC (suite) to do the abouve? If so, how? If not, should I just bring in all three movies at once and do all the chapters on the one big movie? Or are ther other alternatives I haven't thought of?

You should be able to do that. If I understand correctly, you want six buttons on the main menu.
Movie 1
Movie 1 scenes

Movie 2
Movie 2 scenes

Movie 3
Movie 3 scenes

Add Movie 1 and edit the button text.
Copy to clipboard
Paste it back. Rename this button Movie 1 scenes. Then Right click on it and edit chapters.

Repeat for movie 2 and 3.
