Is Drag-to-Disc necessary? Is drag-to-disc necessary for other programs to run?

One quick (I hope) question?? Is it absolutely necessary to have the Drag-to-Disc installed to be able to use other funtions, such as: Disc Copier and Creator Classic??
I hope someone answers very quickly. I'm at an impasse.

Absolutely not.In fact many people either disable or uninstall it.

then why, suddenly, was I unable to open Creator Classic because "parts of D2D couldn't be found" or something like that?

Do you by chance have a formatted disc in your drive? If you do take it out and get rid of it.Then do one of two things.Either go to the Control Panel,Add/Remove,Roxio EMC7.5,Change and uninstall Drag to Disc or try going to Start,Run and typing msconfig and hitting enter. When msconfig opens go to the startup tab and uncheck DrgtoDsc.After this reboot your machine. When it restarts put a check in the box telling you to ignore on next startup(or something like that).Drag to Disc should now be gone or disabled depending on what you did.Creator Classic should now be ok.

For the RELIABLE programs, use a BLANK blank, directly out of the package or off the spindle.

It's floppy discs that get formatted. :)

And before I forget - use CD-R. CD-RW is fine for testing, because it can be erased and reused, but the same qualities cause it to fade to blank.

(written in memory of the data I lost on a formatted CD-RW)
