When i start MyDVD, and begin to load video or images my system freezes.  I cannot do anything, and end up powering the computer off and on with the power button  to restart.

I was told that article # EE8000011 covers this issue, but i cannot find that in the knowledge base.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Here is the system i am using it on:

Pentium M - 1.6 with 1 gig of Ram.  Windows XP Pro.
Dell D400 notebook.

If your Dell came with preinstalled Sonic or Nero software, there could be a conflict with that software and EMC. You should uninstall the preinstalled software and run a repair install of EMC.

Open VideoWave or MyDVD, go to Tools>Options and set the radio button to software. Try now.
Also download the latest video driver according to the chip set you have.

Regardless of what I say about computer maintenance, there is no need to defrag a solid state hard drive.

Just did a new install of XP without Nero or any of the others.  I have a clean install of XP, with Office 2003 and Norton Systemworks installed.

Let me know what you think.

Did you disable Norton before you installed this program?  If so, it could be a bad install.
When you do any video work, disconnect from the Internet and ^#!& down everything else including Norton and all anti-malware.

What video card/adapter is in your laptop? You may have on-board video which in many cases cannot handle the video requirements of EMC 8.

You should also make sure you have the latest chipset drivers and windows updates.

*edit* EMC 8 REQUIRES SP2 to run properly.
