When trying to start the program Roxio Easy Media Creator 7.5(download version) the program crashes and gives a runtime error. The top message reads Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. I tried to do the fix that the Roxanne agent tells, but this did not work. It would seem that I need to uninstall it and re-download it. HOWEVER, I saved the e-mail with the link attached and tried to re-download it, but the page is expired. I can't do anything. Why is this. What else could be the problem? I have never had this problem before. Can't I just remove it and re-download it and start over? I have tried the Web ticket approach, but find this of little help as no one has responded and it is just confusing! Please someone help.

Well, to re-download it you'll need to contact roxio themselves. You can find out how to contact them here. (Look on the right -- The "Telephone" section. Contact customer service from there).

They should re-enable your download as long as you have proof of purchase...

When downloading, be sure to turn off any anti-spyware filters / firewalls, etc...
Also make sure that when installing you turn off anti-virus software.

The reason you should turn those off, is because they may prevent certain program files from being downloaded or installed correctly.

You could also try just doing a repair install. This sometimes works...
My opinions expressed are not those of roxio.

It is also HIGHLY recommended that you keep a copy of the files you download. They are your purchased product. Burn them to cd's or keep a copy on a dsecond harddrive.

After reading all the posts and doing all the updates nothing worked.

I tried using the program under a new profile I had made a while back.
It worked! biggrin.gif No, really! I even burned a disk to make sure.

I switched back to my original (bad) mad.gif profile and tried restarting the app.
It gave me the same Buffer Overrun Error.

I think a quick workaround would be for someone from Roxio to tell us
how we can copy the good profile and paste it in the bad one.
What files are we talking ablout?

I should note I am using the Sonic Digital Media Plus v7.

I am quite sure all the updates (software) and removal /reinstall are not working.
Maybe someone can confirm this.
Best of luck.

I have made some progress with the Buffer Overrun Error.
I will detail the steps but you need to try this at your own risk.
This is not the official work around or patch so if you have
trouble following the outlined steps DO NOT DO IT .
Wait for Roxio to post something.

ninja.gif You will do this at your own risk.

The solution only works under the circumstances outined in my previous post.

To test you need to "Create a new account" using Start>Control Pannel>User Accounts.
It makes no difference if it is with full rights (Administrator) or not. I have tested it both ways.
Once done, log off your curent account, and log in to the new account.
Start the Roxio Software.
ROXIO should start without any Buffer Overrun Error.
If it does not THIS SOLUTION WILL NOT WORK FOR YOU angry.gif SORRY!

If your software works you're good as gold. Continue.
Find the file named pconfig.dcf.
It's in program Files>Common Files>Sonic Shared>Sonic Central>Audio or the folders below
glare.gif The same file is in the Audio, Copy, Data and LaunchBackup folders but not in Main unsure.gif
What I did was copy (Ctrl+C) the one from Audio, and put it (Ctrl+V) in the Shared Documents folder.
ohmy.gif
It is important to put it there, because you can easily retrieve it from the other account.

Note:
I am unsure why there are a lot of these files around or why this stuff is in so many folders.
That is where I get mad at Roxio.

Ignoring my anger log off this account.
Log on to your original account.
Verifiy Roxio gives you the same Buffer Overrun Error when you start the program.

Another note:
Since this is not an official fix, I suggest you go to each of the folder mentioned above, and rename the
pconfig.dcf file.
When done mad.gif copy the file you put in the Shared Documents folder back in the folders you just renamed your files. mad.gif

RRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOXXXXXXXXXXXXXIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Ignoring my anger again, make sure you copied all the files in the respective folders , otherwise some modules might not work.

Yet another note:
I have personally used the same file and copied it to all the folders. I opened the pconfig.dcf file in notepad and saw chinese or was it japanese characters but I noticed the bad file was of a different size than the good file.

Start you aplication.
You will get some error but just click OK.
Click through the various module to make sure no other errors are present.
(I had none)

Does it work? biggrin.gif
I am listening, as I type, to an audio CD I just compiled using the software.
But I did have a problem the first time I tried to compile it.
Actually I moved the mp3's after I added them to the list, so it might have been my fault.
There were some files in the advanced tab as the reason why it did not work but I closed the app
and restarted it, reloaded the mp3 mix and biggrin.gif sucess!

Whew.............Roxio owes me big time.
Like a free upgrade to ver 9 or something rolleyes.gif

:)
