The available update intended for retail versions build 800 will not install on my retail version build 801B16A ENU, bought at Amazon UK. It refuses to install with a messageto the effect that it is not compatible with the installed version.

It seems to me strange that it is so particular about the precise retail version that  was bought, it should have been made compatible with all the pre 805 retail versions that Roxio released.

This update was ostensibly to bring all retail versions to the same state as the download version, but some of us have not been catered for.

If subsequent updates are equally pernickety and will be only for build 805, how will I ever be able to get beyond 801??

I note that the version number is in a key in the registry: would it work if I changed that, or would a change there invaildate the registration and break the software?

I hope that Patrick can advise.

The update for the european version is not available as yet, hopefully within the next week.

It'll update 801B16A to 805B56B.

Hello All

To say the least I am a little bit confused over the numbering of the versions available.

I also have 801b16a enu.  I downloaded this version but in a different post (on the old forum!) someone said that a download version should have esd after it.

Please could someone show me the light!

thanks

David

As I understand it enu is retail, ESD is download version of EMC8. If you bought yours boxed, retail, then the patch is for you.

Thats why I am confused.  I did not buy it as a retail version, I downloaded the version from the site - though the original EMC6 and 7 were retail versions - does this make a difference???

I'm more and more puzzled by Roxio's (or must I say Sonic's) policy ....  Why has the download version to be different from the boxed version?  Couldn't a iso file do the job?
Another very strange characteristic of the dowloaded version .. I unzipped the program file and then wanted to save them on CD using EMC8 .. NOT possible!! I got several 'to long paths' messages ......

The path messages are from the File System you chose to use (Joliet).

Change it to UDF, No Bridge and it will burn just fine.

Hi, this is my first post so please excuse me if I make any mistakes.

It is now a week since you mentioned that the european patch would be available "hopefully" by now. Do you have an update?

Yes, I agree, where IS the European patch - with all the bugs /niggles / crashes it is badly needed. I just hope that it fixes all / most of the current problems.
