Have EMC7 and EMC8 loaded.Recently started getting the following on computer start up:

    Runtime Error!

Program: ...es\Common Files\Roxio Shared\SharedCOM8\RoxWatchTray.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information
-----------------------------------
EMC8 will run. EMC7 will not.

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Walt.

Start->Run.
Type in MSConfig
go to startup tab.
disable RoxWatchTray

restart your computer.

This will prevent roxwatchtray from being started, and prevent the error.  See if EMC 8 will run now :).

(Also, please post in the correct section)
My opinions expressed are not those of roxio.

I am having the same problem, suddenly, and have purchased CD8 as a download.

In researching I was instructed to download Photo.v5.1.2529.0.exe.  When tring to install, it claims it can't as I don't have photo 5.0.

I can't re-install CD8, as I don't have the executable file, and in looking at solutions am stumped?

Help would be greatly appreciated, as these pop-ups are annoying.

P.S.  I have also turned off Roxio CD8 in the automatic install shield.

What does Photo5 have to do with EMC 8?  Why don't you have the executable file for version 8?  You need to contact Roxio, directly.

I have read the postings, and this appears to be the only forum that refers to RunTime Errors.
I have recently installed EMC 8 twice, and have had to uninstall it both times, as the adverse affect on performance was so great. I purchased the retail version of EMC 8 Suite from a UK store. I am running WinXP Pro, patched to SP2 and am logged on as an administrator.

The most obvious effect was on ZoneLabs ZoneAlarm Security Suite (again fully up to date). It was regularly reporting that the application was trying to update itself. And my email client, Outlook 2000 froze too.

I used MSCONFIG to disable RoxWatchTray but this did not seem to improve the situation. Any suggestions, please?

If I have posted this in the wrong place I apologise and would appreciate someone pointing me to the right place
