I have looked at all previous posts about this topic and everything stated in those did not work. I have tried to repair the software like 20 times and all that did was make the software crash or make my computer restart. My graphics card is set to default and everything else they have suggested but i still get the black/purple screen.

But you didn't tell us anything about your PC or your setup...

Try completely disabling your graphics card from Device Manager while you record worked for me except the video was a little distorted but I'm sure it's not too much to fix.
