Hello, again I appeal to the “gurus” of Media Creator 8. I have imported (ripped) many of my store-bought CD’s via Windows Media Player, onto my hard drive. I have rip settings set to “WMA” and “best quality (192 kbps).” When I try to burn a “Jukebox Disc” in Creator 8, the finished disc skips several files during playback of all 3 of my MP3/WMA compliant stereos. All stereos skip the same tracks also. I have burned the projects multiple times slowing the write speed down to 8x. Does anyone know why this is happening to me? Thanks again, Paul.

Are any of the tracks you burned by chance downloaded from a music store?I tried this and I had it not play 1 track on me and it was a track I purchased.

Another thing you might try is going to Music Disc Creator and creating a MP3/WMA disc and see if there is any difference.

Thanks for the reply.
None of the files were downloaded, all from store-bought music CD's. As for your advice, I think that when I create a music CD, it works fine. It only seems to be when I am writing the WMA files.
Thanks, Paul.

Yeah Paul,I wasn't trying to get you to make an Audio cd.If you did that the files would be converted to .wav files which isn't the problem. What I was trying to get you to do was use Music Disc Creator an choose MP3/WMA disc under the project type. This would be the same thing as creating the Jukebox disc just using a different application to make it.Sometimes the apps from the Home menu don't work all that sweet.Give it a try with just a small sampling and see what happens.
I'm listening to one I just made and it plays both formats ok.I've got a Pioneer DV-578A player.

And was track 7 a MP3 or WMA file? Also what's the make and model of one of the players you're trying to use?

All files on my computer are WMA, as I was under the impresion that the quality was better.
Have tried the discs on Pioneer car CD player (which plays MP3/WMA discs), stock CD player in my wife's PT Cruiser which also plays MP3/WMA, and a portible (boom-box) no-name brand which also plays MP3/WMA. All players skip the same files...
Thanks for helping! Paul.

That's weird that it only skips some of the wma's.I'm beginning to wonder if the cd's are one of the ones they started putting protection on.The disc I made wouldn't play 1 track and it was a track I downloaded from a music store. It had a mix of mp3's and wma's on it.The track plays ok with WMP where the license is but once I put it on the disc it wouldn't play.Wish I could think of something else to try and help.

Well, my problem is that I imported (ripped) all my store bought CD's using Windows Media Player, and all the files that had license tab in the properties would not play using any other software to burn them. tried Nero, sonic and roxio, same problem. I am currently re-ripping all my CD's (a few hundred) using Roxio Creator 8 media import. The only bummer is that all the album info doesn't come across like using itunes or WMP. I have to manually create files in My Music with artist name, otherwise all files just dump automatically into the My Music file. Unless you know how to do it another way????
Thanks!
Paul.

That's strange because I use WMP10 pretty much always to rip my music to my library with but I never use WMP to burn with.I use it to rip and then use Roixo to burn with. Now if they are cd's that you downloaded not bought from the store I could understand. Then you're running into DRM issues. There are some store bought cd's that have copy protection on them but not many as of yet.Where did these discs come from?
As far as the info goes again if they're downloaded then Roxio probably won't see the info but if they're commecrially pressed cd's then I would think that when you insert the disc then Roxio should use Gracenote or CDDB to look up the info as long as it's in the database

OK, new update. Let me tell you how stupod I feel. In the options menu in WMP, there is a checkbox on the rip tab that says "copy protect music." Well, do you know where this is going???
I thought the checkbox sais something else, so that was the problem. If the box is checked, it adds a license tab to the file properties which only allows the file to be used in the WMP software.
OOPS!
Thanks! All is working well now.
Paul.

Ahhhh, that explains a lot. With that box checked you were copy protecting files that were otherwise not protected.Good find in the end.Glad you got it working and are on your way.
