Thanks for a great discussion spot. New to EMC 8 - I have a good number of cuts on my computer that I want to keep, but I would like to xfer them into an MP3 file on my computer for space and delete the WAV files. I know when I was using Nero - it was pretty easy to do - what about with EMC 8? Thanks for the help.

There are a few ways to do this. You can use Music Disc Creator or you can use Sound Editor. For time sake, I'll just explain using Music Disc Creator. Import you file(s) into Music Disc Creator then select them all, right click the selection and choose 'export'. A dialogue box opens up and you can choose what you'd like to export them to and where.
You might want to look at the help files for MDC and Sound Editor to learn what else you can do with audio files.

You can use Sound Editor; simply add the cuts to Sound Editor and Export them to mp3. I'm not sure what a "good number" is but if it is more than 50 or so, it might be easier to download GoldWave (free trial and no malware) and use the batch processing to convert from the file menu in that program. You can add folders and it will convert everything in that folder. If you want to use those music cuts in VideoWave or MyDVD layer, make sure you choose mp3 - 44,000Khz, 16 bit Stereo, 192 kbps. That equivalent to Roxio's mp3 better quality.
