Say for example I use the Retro-look menu. When trying to pick the button picture, I figure it is supposed to work like this: Advance the movie to the image you want, then click Set Button Picture. However, it stays black.

The burned DVD has no individual pictures on the menu, only the background; also, there is no text at all -- no main menu, no menus for individual items, nothing except those four green TVs Retro-look gives you. The movies play okay.

But it gets stranger. I kept my converted items (these came from AVI files); when I import them back into Toast, the good news is that I now have button pictures (well, at least in the Toast window they are there); however, Toast tells me there is no audio. For each item, it says "file such-and-such has no audio, is it somewhere else?", and cannot find any audio in that Converted Items folder.

I'm having somewhat of the same problem! I just upgraded to 7.1 on my G5 yesterday & since I have not been able to burn a DVD that has any menu info on it. No text shows up at all. Is this bug? Or has the preferences been reset with the update?

Never had this problem before.... Quite odd.

Toast 7.1 and 10.4.8, dual 867 MDD. I had the same menu text problem. Mine happened when I cleaned up my fonts last week. I found that Toast needs, for example Papyrus for Adventure menu, Comic Sans for Fuzz Pet, the American Typewriter fonts for Retro, etc.

Either you have moved some fonts or your Font Cache is corrupt? There's a lot of cache cleaners, but Font Finagler will purge the font caches only.

HTH

I went and loaded the non-essential system fonts I took out into Suitcase, here's what Toast activated in Suitcase. I chose each menu style in Toast, each one would activate a few fonts. Empty your font caches after putting these back in. You can probably use any version of Times, I loaded a PostScript version.
