Using Sound Editor to burn discs I have had 2 rejected in the process with the following report:
Invalid field in CDB-illegal request

E:slimtype DVDRWSOSRW-852S("invalid field in CDB-illegalrequest"[05/24/00])

Unable to find an explanation of this in Roxio Help. In the absence of the software manufacturer providing
any assistance for its product can anyone help if they have come across this problem? Input from Roxio most welcome.

Do a google search on the error message and you will see that error message is usually hardware related and may indicate incompatibility between burner and the media you are burning to. Are you using the media recommended for your burner? Have you tried a different manufacturers media?

Thanks for your advice. Will check the site as you suggest. My recording media is clean etc so the problem may be in the drive itself. Regards, Barry

Just because the media is "clean" doesn't mean that your drive can read and write to it well.  Remember, "blank" media has a "pre-groove" spiral on it that the drive uses to track as it writes.  Your drive may be having trouble following that on the particular media you have.  Try some other brands of media and see if that solves the problem.  As much as we'd like to think that all drives can use all media, it simply isn't always the case, some drives are particular about the media they'll use.

Hope that helps!

Dave, Thanks for your note. Learning all the time. I have found a list of the error numbers and have tried the corrective action for my drive and it seems to have worked. Fingers crossed, of course.
