I just upgraded to EMC9 from EMC8 and noticed in MS Add/Remove Program control panel that there is still EMC8 with 436 mb (this is in addition to the EMC9). Is it necessary to have the EMC8 or can I uninstall/delete it?

You can uninstall it.V9 will not upgrade V8,it is a brand new application.

If you have trouble after you remove V8,remove V9 also, search your drive for Roxio and Sonic and delete all folders and references you find, run a registry cleaner and then reinstall V9.
