After NUMEROUS attempts to contact Roxio Support via web ticket, phone calls and email I am still unable to receive a reply from anyone. I have come to the conclusion that the discussion groups will be my best shot so I am hoping someone out there can help me with my problem.

I purchased Easy Media Creator 8.0 Suite 2 months ago and I am having a problem with auto motion in Videowave. I had 7.0 and it worked fine. I can apply auto motion individually but cannot apply it globally. I've read in some of the discussion groups that it could be the video card drivers. I just updated mine plus my computer is less that 4 months old.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what it could be?

Also, what's up with Roxio, I get no response to my "web-ticket", no response to my email and finally I decided to just get a refund from Roxio and use 7.0 for my project but I can't get a response from the refund department (not surprised).

I think I should create a roxiosucks.com site. Sigh....... Anyone with me on this? :)

Hi Sandra, Simply select the images you want to apply the auto motion to using the Windows -- select the first image, shift, select the last image and they will all be selected or the Windows CTRL- select and the ones you want will be selected. Now apply the auto motion. You will get a message that auto motion was applied to the selected images.

In many cases, you will get a faster, more targeted response if you post here. The boards should be named Roxio_Boards_Rock.com but we can't help you on a refund. :D

Thanks for your response. Tried that...it is not working. I do get a message that automotion has been applied to all selected images but it's not.

I have seen a lot of discussion on the auto motion not working and everyone seems to think it is the video driver or suggests just not to use it or say something like you have to look real close to see the motion. The fact is it worked on the same system using EMC 7 and now after paying money for what is expected to be a better product, features you have used in the past now do not work. I am in the same boat and will most likely ask for a refund tomorrow. I have tried it on a couple of different systems and it does not work. Applying pan and zoom specifically on each picture works, but the auto motion does not. When wanting to do DVD's of pictures, having the ability to quickly and simply apply automotion and burn the DVD is one of the main reasons I want the product. I will have to go back to using Windows Photo Story for the pictures and import the output into Pinnacle for additional editing and burning to DVD.

I would like to know though from those that have responded to the multiple postings on this topic providing all sorts of suggestion, does anyone actually have EMC 8 Suite with auto motion working on their system? Can you simply add some pictures, select them, apply auto motion, and preview to see it actually work? If you can, then maybe the program works and requires certain hardware. If no one has this working, then those complaining about Roxio have good reason to. You would think that Roxio would put out a patch to fix or specify specific requirements for their software to work properly.

The automatic applying of pan and zoom does not work on the slideshow assistant application that comes with EMC 8 either.

Please reply from anyone that actually has it working on their system.

Thank you.

I made the first reply and I did so only after making sure that it would work. It does in both VideoWave and Slide Show Assistant in MyDVD and in Photosuite. There is no question that there is motion. Just in case you are not convinced, click here. It is a short wmv format movie that I did in about 3 minutes. It will take about 30 seconds or so to download depending on your internet speed.

Now I have a challenge for you. Create a short slide show and apply automotion, Burn that project to a RW disc and play it on your computer. Do you see any motion? If you have a DVD player that will play a RW disc, watch it there. I bet that you will see some motion on both. Do not rely on the preview. You could also burn it to a video file on your computer and then play that if you don't have any RW discs.

The gurus do not work for Roxio and will post based on first hand knowledge. They do not rely on sales promises. If they are not sure, they will post that information.

Sandra, you card and the new drivers should handle and show the automotion. Please try to set the performance of the card to performance or high performance to see if you can see the automotion preview. Also, in VideoWave, go to tools then options and then run the rendering test. Does the little dot stay near hardware? Check the box next to software so the rendering is software. Now create a short slide show and apply automotion. Preview it; do you see the automotion?

I set my performance of my card to high and then ran the rendering test. Yes, the little dot stays near the hardware.

I created a short slides show and applied automotion. I did not see the auto motion. I also outputed it to a mpeg file, viewed it and there is no auto motion on the video.

Sorry, I'm out of ideas Since I can't duplicate your problem I can't work on it. That is not to say that your problem doesn't exist. There are a few posts on this but most people simply decide to apply motion they want to the individual images. In your situation, this does not seem to be an acceptable alternative.

Perhaps someone from Roxio will see this set of posts and offer some other suggestions. :)

Well SKNIS, they say a picture is worth a thousand words. Showing that auto motion does work with that clip you put together convinces me at least the product does do it. I still don't understand why it works on EMC 7 and I can't get it to work on EMC 8, eventhough I tried it with both installed. One works, the other doesn't. If there are different hardware requirements, you would think Roxio would state that. And I am only running EMC 8 at this point to make sure there is no conflicts between the two.

I am only using the Intel 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset graphics that is part of my Pentium 4 3GHz system with a gig of ram. Maybe it has to do with the graphics card. Everything is up to current versions including DirectX. If it was simply a display/preview issue, I would think it would show properly if I save it to a video file or burn it to a DVD, but is still does not show any motion when I use VideoWave nor Slideshow Assistant.

You mention running the Rendering test. When I do that for Hardware, Software gets selected. When I do it for Software nothing happens. And by the way, I have tried auto motion with both settings and it does not make a difference; still no motion at all, regardless of how long I have the duration set for. What is this Render test doing or trying to tell me?

And thanks, by the way, for doing the auto motion video to show it works at least on your system.

From the other postings I have seen, it sounds like quite a few people can't get this to work. Somethings wrong. It can't be that complicated. Microsoft Photo Story does it, and that is free.

Frustrated2,
In your case, it is likely a problem with your video. Yours is built into your Motherboard, it is not an actual video card. EMC 8 ( & EMC 9 now) work a bit differently than 7, and are extrememly dependant on the video capabilities for things like 3D effects and motion. Almost all onboard video chips do not fully support all of the directx 9c functions that the software needs to do those things. Getting yourself a real video card with a min of 128Ram on it would probably solve your issue.

Well, I called Roxio today and requested a refund even though I purchased the software just over two months ago. To my surprise, they "have processed my refund." (I had to badger them for a few minutes but it wasn't that tough.) Roxio also said they would send me a "refund confirmation" email immediately but I haven't gotten that yet so I guess I shouldn't count my chickens yet.

YEP, I guess I am going to use my 7.0 for my dvd. Sigh .... I was looking forward to using some of the added features in 8.0.

Thanks for you help. :)
