Just wanted all to know that I have installed EMC9 on my computer. I have not installed the content disk yet. I do have a backup prepared of divxdec.ax (thanks MTolman). I also have complete or partial installs of other Roxio products as indicated in the topic description. The other things I did where to do a reg cleanup and stopped all non-essential services before the installation. However, I did not disable my Symantec Corporate AV 10 during the install.

I did a custom install and elected not to install SightSpeed videoconferencing software - didn't seem like anything I'd need. The install process was uneventful.

I have started and exited "Digital Media Experience" (which is a settings manager), VideoWave9 and MyDVD9, EMC8 Home and VideoWave8 without problem. RoxWatch9 and Drag2Disc9 started up automatically with the reboot, but they have been turned off. Now I have something called DMXLauncher in my process list - I'll deal with that later.

Here's a tip:

Early in the custom install you should watch for the option of where to install Roxio. It's not a separate window and is easy to miss. I would not recommend installing in the default install folder (c:\program files\roxio) - tell it to install in c:\program files\roxio\Easy Media Creator 9. Now I have two nice folders called "Easy Media Creator 7", "Easy Media Creator 8" and all kinds of other folders mixed up with them - tolerable, but irritating to me.

Bedtime for me...

It is easy to miss where to install the program if you just keep hitting the next button.  Sometimes I have to go forward and then back to get the choice of where to install it.

Thanks for sharing.

Any advantage of installing to non-default folder?

There are no concrete advantages that I can think of, perhaps someone else can.

For me and my computers I like to keep things neat and lean. This makes them easier to maintain and troubleshoot. My desk however is another story... :)

Content disk install went fine. I seem to have access to both new menu styles and the ones from EMC8. I really appreciate the new menu styles, much more color, style and punch.

Lance, I installed it today, on my computer.  I created a separate folder, under the Roxio folder, since I kept 7.5 on my hard drive.  If I had not seen your post, I would not have created a separate folder, it would have installed it in the Roxio folder, without creating a separate folder called Easy Media Creator 9.  It would have been a mess.  Not good.

Thanks for the heads up.  I now have a tidy Roxio folder. :)

The crazy thing is, Version 8 created a sub-folder in the Roxio folder, as did version 7.5.  Version 9 does not.  Well, maybe it does, but when I saw how it showed it was going to set up, I made a separate sub-folder.

I am so impressed by EMC9 that I have removed EZCD6 and EMC8. Actually, I just reformatted and reinstalled everthing - it's been 3 yrs since I last did that on this computer.

However, if I have trouble creating a bootable WinXP disk with EMC9, I'm putting EZCD6 Creator Classic back on.
