Ok, This first initial post will contain a lot of different problems that I am having with Roxio. Hope this does not seem to be too random.
Roxio Unstability Issues:
During use, Roxio freezes and lockus up a lot. I can not open one program, then attempt to run another (after closing down the first). My computer has to be restarted for Roxio to start working.
During shut down of Windows, I ALWAYS get the following prompt (not in exact words)
Ending program, please wait.....
This message is refering to the file "roxio_central.e"
I always get this message if I opend and used roxio. I will also get a second prompt according to
the type of program that I attemptet to run. For example. If I ran Vidoewave.... it would say it was
ending that program as well.
What I have tried:
I reinstalled roxio
I tried to install updates, but it will not update. I think I have the latest version
I have gone to the window to uninstall but repaired instead.
Roxio UNINSTALLATION ISSUES
Being very disappointed with the problems, I decided to uninstall Roxio 8.0 and Install my copy of Roxio 7.0. I never had any problems with 7.0 before.
LET ME CLARIFY. Roxio 7.0 WAS NEVER INSTALLED on this hard drive before Roxio 8.0. This is a new hard drive, in which i reinstalled everything on to it. I junked my last hard drive. I opted to get the NEW Roxio 8.0 for the NEW Hard drive.
ONce Uninstalling Roxio 8.0 and INstalling Roxio 7.0 I get MAJOR systom errors. Windows will no longer boot, unless in safe mode. I get the following error (not in exact words):
Something unexpectedly unloaded. Please check "cdr4_xp.sys" ..... restart system..... bla bla bla
I have found that Roxio has a file called "cdr4_xp.sys" that it installs under its DRIVER folder. Hmmm.... Apparently, I can no longer use Roxio 7.0 because this driver was installed?
THis is what I have concluded about this problem
1. I can have Roxio 8.0 Installed with instability issues
2. I can uninstall Roxio 8.0 or Roxio 7.0 and windows will work fine
3. It is impossible to have Roxio 7.0 installed at all.
Is there a way to unistall the driver to get Roxio 7.0 TO work? All I want is eithor Roxio 7.0 or 8.0 to work.
MY SYSTEM SPECS;
AMD 3000+ Processor (754 pin)
1 GIG patriot ram, CL 2 (DDR 400)
320 GB Hard drive, SATA 3.0
GEFORCE 7600GS Video card
NEC DVD burner
JETWAY Motherboard
Thanks,
Jake

Any chance you have Internet Explorer 7 beta/RC1 installed? That has been causing alot of headaches lately.
Make sure you have the latest nVidia driver and DirectX (aug2006) from Microsoft.

Nope, do not have the new version of Internet explorer.
Yes, all video drivers and DiretX is brand new.
thanks for the suggestion though.

UPDATE
I uninstalled Roxio 8.0 delux edition, and reinstalled a friends roxio 8.0, normal edition to see if there was any improvment.
Yes, programs are more stable now and allow me to use them.
However, I still can only run one, restart windows and then run a second.
I just found that, by pressing CRTL + ALT + DEL to open task manager, and viewing the processes tab, I can find the program I used and manually end the process (this is after allready closing the program down). This allows me to actually open up another program, instead of restarting the computer. SOmetimes I also have to end "Roxio_Central.exe", which is the main roxio window that allows you to choose what program you want. By ending this, I can reopen and chose a different program. (to clarify: When fully ending the program in task manager, THe programs do not show up under the "aplication" tab, just the "processes" tab)
Yes this is a bit annoying to do. But it works this way.
DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHY THE PROGRAM IS NOT FULLY CLOSING DOWN?
IS THERE A WAY TO FIX IT SO THAT I DO NOT HAVE TO MANUALLY END IT BY PRESSING "CRTL + ALT + DEL"?

I ran into similar problems with that file. I offer no guarantees but my solution to the problem is here.
Perhaps you can use my solution or a variation of it.
