Question

Hardware: Sony Vaio windows 8.1 64 bit, Intel i7 processor, 8 Gb RAM, Radeon graphics card with 2 Gb dedicated memory.

Creator NX installed 6 months ago under windows 8 64 bit. Have just updated to Windows 8.1 4 bit and NXT will not load. W I do so he Roxio splash screen comes up followed by the NXT splash screen - then a message to say the program has stopped working.

I have tried the following Running as Administrator, Running in compatibility mode for Win 8, Win 7 an XP all with the same result. I have run windows compatibility trouble-shooter which tells me its an incompatible program. Can any one help me get I working?

Roxio - des it work with Win 8.1 64 bit ?

This is not Roxio tech support but someone else will jump in with an answer.

From what I read, NXT will run just fine in W8.1

NEVER RUN ANYTHING IN COMPATIBILITY MODE!!! (It was put there for MS Software only)

Since you did you are going to need to really clean it up and re-install :(

Download and install the
Uninstaller. Then run it in
Moderate Mode
to remove any traces of Roxio.

Create a New User Account with Administrator Privileges.

Turn OFF any A/V & Firewall.

Reboot and log on to that new account.

Copy your entire disc to a new folder on your HDD.

In that new folder, right click on Setup.exe and select Properties.

Under the Compatibility tab, make sure
nothing
is checked!

Right click Setup.exe and select Open.

Allow it to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio not Windows)

Use the Default Locations!

This is extensive, but it what I suggest to make sure you have a clean start ;)

My experience is that Windows 8 will allow you to run Roxio NXT, while Windows 8.1 will hang my project in different places. I tried to run Roxio NXT MyDVD, while the movies come from Roxio NXT VideoWave.

So, no... do not try to run Roxio NXT in Windows 8.1.
