Hi guys...I scrolled through the first page of topics and didn't see a question like mine.  Please forgive me if someone else has already asked this and it's buried in previous pages...

I have a 4.67GB (give or take a MB here and there, but no more than 4.68GB) project that I composed in DVD Builder.  I finally :insert Book of Cuss here: got it to burn in the wee hours of the morning today.  However, to my horror, I discovered that in the process of burning the project, VideoWave chopped of 418MB of data.    My Introduction is missing some of the text it should show, and the first four titles (Menu 1) each have errors in the duration of the photos which causes each title to end abruptly before the audio track is completed.  Duuuuuudes, this is seriously interfering with my artistic impression... :)

Any idea why this happened?  Any ideas how to fix it?  Is my project just too big?  HAAAAAAAILP!  This is for my parents' 50th Anniversary celebration, so I really want it to be "just right" if you know what I mean.

Thanks for helping a newbie (and a TOTAL novice at making DVD's)!   :D

Yes, your project is probably too big to burn directly to a disc. Instead, burn it to an image file ( .ISO), then use Disc Copier to buen the image file to disc. Disc Copier will compress it to fit as needed.

Is the project over one hour long? What fits on a DVD goes more by time than size. Try burning an .iso (image file) to your hard drive, then use disc copier to burn it to a DVD. Set it "fit to disc" before clicking the burn button, then it will get it all onto a disc. It may lower the quality a bit depending on how long the project is, in time.

Okay, I'll give it a try.  I had some problems with Disc Copier last night, but hopefully whatever I did to make the thing burn right in the first place will also make Disc Copier work right.  Thanks much!

Picture or not, in what possible way does "X-Phile" indicate sex???

Now "Bonehead" would probably indicate male…

Patty, I never set "fit to disc" when burning to image file. DVD Builder will of course create an iso file that is larger then 4.7GB but DiscCopier will transode to fit on the DVD.

Hey...I've just found a free second to read the rest of the posts and reply.  Thanks everyone for your input.

To answer Patty's question, my project is approximately 45 minutes long.  I went back and made some changes to the project and then saved it as an .ISO file, but I had missed the part you posted about clicking on "fit to disc."  So in the process of the save, again my project went from 4603.8 MB to  4106.3 MB.   It "chop" didn't hurt it as badly as before, but I can still tell the difference in the durations of the images and how they fit slightly less "perfectly" with key points in the audio background.

I still have some work to do in order to get my introduction just the way I want it (why *doesn't* DVD Builder tell you that you can only put so much text in there, anyway?!?).  So when I finish editing this time, I'll try the "fit to disc" option.

Oh...and I agree James...X-Phile IS totally a gender-neutral name.  My bad for not adding an avatar in the beginning.    :)
