that's correct. MyDVD 8 Essentials is a very basic and simple authoring program. It has very limited capabilities.

I would avoid the MyDVD 8 Premiere also, as it also contains some limits on the menu customizations.

Since it sounds like you are wanting to do DVD authoring, if you purchased it direct from Roxio/Sonic (especially recently), I would contact them to see about returning it and getting a refund, then I would suggest yo get EMC 9 instead. It has no limits like this on menu creation, and has a lot of enhanced additional features added that the v 8 line of products does not have.

One additional thing to check, is your computer specs against the requirements for v9. If you post them here we can let you know if your computer is adequate to support v9.

Yeah, I know MyDVD Essentials was cheap. But then this ad and the feature table are simply false!  http://www.roxio.com...ydvd/mydvd.html

Now, isn't it?

I think you are reading what you want to read into that chart. NO WHERE in the chart does in mention changing background pictures for either version. You made the decision to buy the cheaper version and all cheaper versions are limited.

I'm gonna have to agree with both sides here.Essentials is a very basic version and lacking a lot of features. However,I looked at the chart and I'd have to tend to agree that it should do what he asks.

Have you tried a repair or a reinstall using Add/Remove?

I think it will let him change the menu background picture.

I suspect that he wants to change the picture in the Title Button which no version can do directly???

Maybe if epovo can be a little more explicit, we can come up with a way to do it.

I agree, it appears from the chart that the Essentials is suppose to allow changing the menu background using a photo or video file. But as James noted, it's not going to allow changing the Title Button image.

I still think (my opinion only) epovo should contact Roxio/Sonic to see about returning it and get EMC 9 instead. It has no limitations and has a lot more design choices and control for DVD authoring.

ok, thank you guys. I just wanted to change the background of the menu, NOT the title button image. And ithe option is disabled. tbrewst got it right and attached the table that misguided me.
Ggrussell, the table DOES say I should be able to do that. I'm going to to try and reinstall as tbrewst suggested. If that does not work... well, I don't know if I want to keep on buying from a company that lies in their ads.
Thank you all again  :)
