I am unable to activate my sonic cineplayer or roxio creator. I keep getting error messages as if there is a server problem at the other end and it is unable to connect to be able to activate. I've already uninstalled and re-installed the software but the problem persists. Any ideas or am I stuck called support during the week.

What are the error messages you are getting? Are you using Internet Explorer 7 beta? If so, you'll need to uninstall it. Or, wait and try again later as it could actually be a server problem.

Thanks for the reply. I am using IE 6.0 and I've been trying over the last 3 days. The error message reads "unable to connect for activation--- try again later." I guess I'll continue trying and if it doesn't work, may have no choice but to call support on monday.

Maybe take a look at any firewall or intenet security to have running. Shut it down and try again. I use Zone Alarm and didn't have a problem but maybe something like Norton Internet Security or Macafee could be causing this.

Good idea. Will try to disable firewall and security software and try again. Thanks for the help.

I've had the SAME Problem for the past few days with MYDVD. I've already used the MYDVD - not cineplayer as you did- and suddenly it wants to be ACTIVATED.

I think it's a WEBSITE ERROR on Roxio or sonic's part!!

Actually, you are not activating MyDVD, but the MPEG 2 codec which is licensed from another company. You first need to 'register' EMC9. I also got notices to register Backup MyPC, Digital Media Experience and then activate the MPEG 2 codec.

IF YOU DO NOT activate the MPEG2 codec, you will not be able to edit MPEG files or burn a DVD.

I think registering Roxio Home takes care of the Mpeg activation. At least I registered Roxio home before using MyDVD or Videowave, and had no request to activate anything more when using MyDVD or Videowave, including in the latter (as a test) converting a HD .wmv file to mpeg 2 and subsequently editing the mpeg 2 file by removing a segment.

You WILL get the MPEG activation request at some point. I just got it today, when I opened MyDVD. I had opened MyDVD many times before.

It doesn't. MPEG has to be activated separately since EMC now uses a third party MPEG codec. As Bruce points out, you will get the activation at some point.

I also got a notice to register Backup MyPC and Digital Media Experience (DMX).
