Backup to DVD-RW hangs
#1

Using Windows XP 64-bit and a NEC 3520A DVD+-RW drive.
Set up a job in Backup to back up documents (no multimedia files) and 2 profiles to 4.7Gb RW discs. When I try to use Burn or Backup Needed, the job drops into either the "Creating Layout..." or "Retrieving project size..." window and hangs there.
I have left each of these run for several hours with nothing else occurring. Neither can be stopped or cancelled with the Cancel button.
I have to stop these in Task Manager, then delete files from the Application Data folder in the profile in order to open the Backup software again. In Task Manager, I notice that CPU usage is at 100%.
I haven't found any software patches or support documents relating to this problem.
Has anyone found a solution to this problem? Is Roxio addressing this?
TIA
Rick

If you are using BUMP, it should not even install on a 64 OS. There were some notes about this, but I can't seem to find anything that is working right now…

Maybe just another name for the same thing, but the suite calls it Roxio Backup, not BUMP. From the Creator Home menu, it's just called File Backup.
Page 29 of the manual lists WinXP Pro 64-bit as OS in the minimum requirements.

While XP 64 bit is an OS that will work with most of the apps BUMP (BackUp My Pc) is one that won't.See the article I put in the link to.

I, too, have been having similiar problems with my backing up. This is my third Roxio program (currently Easy Media Creator v 8), and I've had tons of problems from the start. I can't back up without having the drive hang up or other errors. It takes hours and hours to finally get a back up, if I can do it at all.

I also have EMC8 with Roxio Backup only- hangs up after it retrieves the Project size. Trying to back up 15Gig on 4 DVD-RW's, but getting nowhere.
Interesting I found BUMP_60 on my EMC 8 disc, but cannot install from disc.
Roxann as the most useless support I've ever seen in some 30 years of computing.
