Roxio Hd Game Capture Is Not Opening?

Question

I have had my capture card for about 1 year now. It's given me problems since DAY 1! I had 1 computer that it worked on and one it didn't. Well I lost the install disk until today. I complete removed any ROXIO files off this computer(the one it didn't work on) and reinstalled it. Thinking MAYBE it would work. No. Now when I click "capture" it doesn't give me any errors and doesn't open... When I click "Edit and share" it says "Error: Unable to load skin"! I am really mad about this. Is there anyway to force open the capture part? or get it working? I don't need the editing part... I have my own software to edit it in... which is way better than theirs. >_<

You "lost" your disc, but now you have it???

Not following that as "Lost" is permanent! If you 'found it' later, then it was 'misplaced' -_-

List your PC Specs and we will try to get you going ;)

everything but your video card ;)

First order of business would be to make sure your Video Card/chip Drivers AND Software are up to date. Check on the manufactures website.

Make sure you have nothing tweaked- CPU or GPU, nothing that says 'accelerate'

Then do a Proper Repair - Add Nothing - Skip Nothing:

First thing to do is to turn off your Anti Virus, Firewalls, Registry Cleaners, etc.

Unplug your RGC Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Now insert your Roxio Disc.

Be sure you accept the offer to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio, not Windows)

When you reach the screen where
Repair
is offered, choose that!

When the Repair competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

What happens now?

Sorry I got busy. I just came to check if there was a response yet. I called a repair man to come check out my fridge. After he leaves I will test it.

I'm getting the problem I had when I got it. This is a image of it. Also I am getting the same "Load skin" error with the editor.

Those are 2 different errors...

'Load Skin' =

MSXML4 SP3 ~ use the msxml.msi to install it:

HERE

The runtime needs the Repair I listed - you did not say if you had completed it, but in any case, do it again (up to 3 tries)

Don't know!

I can be brief as well

I see what you did there. I am sorry. Just annoyed that I bought this product and for over a year now it hasn't been of any use to me. True I have it kinda working on another computer... But it sometimes doesn't work and it can't connect to the internet. The ethernet port is broken. So I can't connect a ethernet cable to it. So it's basically useless to me. I use the thing as a storage computer... I have no idea how to fix this problem. I did everything you said and looked it up online. A few things have came up. Nothing fixed it. I have no idea what to do... I might sell the thing to my friend or something. Take the money I get from it to buy a different one. >_<

I appreciate you frustration and admire your patience

The software is failing, which is why we are 'Repairing'.

The software relies heavily on the Video Card, hence it can cause it to fail

Also, well intended tweaking, trying to make your PC run faster or look better is pretty much a death sentence for the software...

For stubborn cases like yours, this is extensive, but it what I suggest...

(Add Nothing! – Skip Nothing!)

Unplug your RGC Device and put it aside until you are completely finished.

Download and install the
Uninstaller. Then run it in
Moderate Mode
to remove any traces of Roxio.

Create a New User Account with Administrator Privileges.

Turn OFF any A/V & Firewall.

Reboot and log on to that new account.

Copy your entire disc to a new folder on your HDD.

In that new folder, right click on Setup.exe and select Properties.

Under the Compatibility tab, make sure
nothing
is checked!

Right click Setup.exe and select Open.

Allow it to Check for Updates (this is for Roxio not Windows)

Use the Default L occasions!

When the Install competes, turn your AV & Firewall back on and reboot.

Thank you for all your help. I went out of town for awhile and came back to see this. I tried it, (twice), and I am getting the runtime error. I don't know why but Roxio doesn't wanna run on my computer. I don't think there is any possible way of getting it to work. :( Thank you again.

No idea really - as far as the error or why!

Only option is the process I have outlined, may take up to 3 full attempts sometimes
