Is there a way to change the background of a captured video if the background was the same colour or same flat wall? much like a green screen effect?

Talking about chroma key? Here is a thread on that.

Sounded like fun and I tried it--but couldnt figure out the right process picking up the dropper.I see how to get the chrom key,but when i go to move the dropper and click on the background, nothing happens.Would you be so kind as to give the explicit steps--it sounds so intriguing.I did what the thread said, but clearly am missing something--thanks--bob

I haven't done it myself; I just picked up a thread from the forum about it. Hopefully, someone who has done it provides feedback.

Hi. Bob.  I have only done this once, but I will give it a shot.

1.  Insert the picture/video you want on the video track.
2.  Insert the picture/video on the overlay track (either internal or external track)
3.  Point to and double click on the picture/video on the overlay track and the overlay editor will open.
4.  Drop down the Method window and select Chroma Key.
5.  Click the Chroma Key Color button and then click the eyedropper icon.  Your mouse pointer should change to a eyedropper.
6.  Move the eyedropper to the overlay editor preview window, point to and click the color you want to make transparent and then click OK.
7.  The color you selected should become transparent and you should see the image of the picture/video on the video track through the transparent portion.

Hope that helps.
Merv
