Toast 7.1
I tried to write a DVD +R disc, but toast kept spitting the DVD out. Perplexed, I used a DVD-R and toast was happy with it and burned the disc. At first I thought it was the media, but then I noticed something weird.
Before launching toast, have a look at the Apple System Profiler. There, under 'Disc Burning', it shows that I can do the following format:
CD-R, -RW
DVD -R, -RW, +R, +RW, +R DL
When you launch toast, and then the system profiler, it still shows that you have those formats, but as soon as you start burning a disc, and THEN launch system profiler, you only have the following formats available:
CD-R, -RW
DVD -R, -RW
Note that my DVD +R, +RW AND +R DL is not available anymore! Hence toast spitting out the DVD +R disc.
The other thing I noticed in the system profiler, is that it shows a Cache of 2048 KB before toast burns anything, and a Cache of 0 KB while burning toast.
You have to relaunch system profiler to see these effects WHILE toast is burning.
This is of course a big problem, as I can't use toast to burn any DVD +R & +R DL discs.
From the finder these formats are not a problem.
Any suggestions?

Toast does a test on the media when you go to burn to it. Anything that it does not pass on, it simply wont allow. Toast does support those types of media though, so you may want to experiment with different brands of media and also check into any firmware updates that may be available for the drive.
