Hi. I'm having a problem with 3 5-minute videos I shot with my digital camera. They are AVI, and I shot them at 15 frames per second, 640x480. They are of my nephew playing music. In Videowave, I combine them, add some fades between the 3 pieces, and cropped them a bit. The preview looks and sounds perfect. But when I go into DVD builder and burn a DVD, the audio and video become out of sync starting with the second clip (and continuing through the 3rd clip). The original files are fine - I view them in Windows media player. I have re-rendered it, and gone back and simplified the original Videowave project (no cropping of the video, no title screen with text, and just a simple fade between the 3 parts). Same problem. I have tried saving it as an MPEG rather than burning to DVD - same problem. I also swapped the third and second clips in case there was something wrong with the 2nd clip, and the problem still happened right after the first clip ended, no matter which clip came next. The preview always looks fine in Videowave. Any ideas?

If I can't figure it out, I will have to use Movie Maker to combine the 3 clips, but I hate doing that when I have Roxio...

You can actually output that file as a Movie Maker file.   Do a File\ Output production as..... Video File and choose Show All.   That will show you the options available.

I'm not familiar with how to output the settings that you used, but maybe someone else with more knowledge than I can help.

I used Windows Movie maker to combine the 3 clips into one, with transitions, etc. and saved it as a wmv file. The wmv file plays fine. I go to DVD builder, drop in the one wmv file, no further edits, and burn to a DVD and it is still messed up! What the hell.... how do I get this video onto a DVD???

Hi, Cathy

In your first post you indicated that in Videowave, the 3 clips played fine in preview with audio/video in sync.  Try doing an Output Production to a DV AVI file rather than a MPEG.  Bring the DV AVI file into DVDBuilder and burn to disc.  It does not work for all users with the problem, but it does work for many including me.

Let us know if it works.  Good luck.

I finally got the audio and video in sync. I tried outputting the 3 individual clips and then the three together as DV/AVI files, and also as MPEG, and they were still out of sync once the file was converted. I re-did the whole thing in Movie Maker, and the finished movie file was fine, but when I burned it to DVD using Roxio, it was out of sync.

Finally I did two things that made it work (don't know which fixed it) - I downloaded and installed the update to 7.0, and also, when I burned it to DVD, I went into the burn settings and picked the other audio option. I don't have Roxio here on my work computer, but there were two options for the audio (I think the first was Dolby) and I picked the second, non-default one that said something like More compatible, less compression, but larger file sizes. From then on, it's been fine.

Thank you for sharing your solution!    I'm certain that will help someone else who has this problem.  :)

As ml said, thanks for sharing your solution.  It has already helped someone, namely me.  I have struggled with audio/video sync problems and the DV AVI output was my only solution, but that also has it drawbacks.  Changing the audio option did not occur to me, but I will definitely try it the next time I do a project with video.

Thanks again for posting your results.
