Is there a way to "clear" the standard picture on a jewel case template in Label Creator, so I can insert album art from the Clipboard? The only choices I've found so far are to delete the entire object. I'd like to keep the "frame", just empty its contents and then Paste in the album art.

I'm not sure if I understand your question completely - but here goes anyway. I'm assuming you are looking at the "audio" cd template in Label Creator and are talking about the picture that is sitting on the front part of the cd folder insert (person in chair with headphones on).

I just delete the picture - you do not really need the "frame" of that picture to add your own picture. If you then click "add" - "image" - "from file" from the top tool bar, you can bring in your own picture/scan to use. Once the picture is imported, you can move it around, resize it, reshape it, etc. and make it fit the front or folder or back outline exactly. If you want to keep the exact aspect ratio of the image, it can be tricky - but doable - if you stick to dragging from the lower right hand corner of the image only to increase or decrease the size of the image.

If I'm off base here in my answer - come back with more specifics and we'll try again.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm talking about. If I can't save the "frame" of the default picture, how can I at least tell its dimensions and location on the cover, so I can put my picture in the same place, at the same size?

I still don't understand why you are so concerned about replacing that picture with an image that is exactly the same size and in the exact same spot, but whatever.
I suggest you import your replacement picture as described above. Select it (click on it). Then click "tools" - "order" - "bring to front" from the top tool bar. Now you can drag it over the default picture and resize/reshape it to cover the old default picture exactly if that is what you want. When done, you can delete the default picture if you want by selecting (clicking on) the new picture, and use "tools" - "order" from the top tool bar to move it down one, etc. until the old picture is exposed - then just delete it.

Personally - I always just delete the default picture immediately upon opening up the layout for an audio cd. Then I import my replacement pictures and place/size them exactly where I want them. If I am bringing in a scan of a cd cover, I generally shape it to fill the entire "folder" or "back" area of the project layout. You can make custom images by placing images over portions of other images. You can also make text boxes show over the image using the "order" feature described above (I use that to make track listings of the disc appear over the back page of a scanned folder, for example).
